Gun of the day (or gun envy?)

Todays gun is an American Tactical Rifle (technically considered a hand gun due to the short barrel) chambered in 5.56 with an adjustable stock. I will be adding a reflex sight to it, along with a flashlight under the barrel. I've only shot it once out of the two months I've owned it, and only shot approx 5 rounds. Still very new to me and I love it. I also have two other 9mm hand guns, and a semi-automatic mag fed 12ga assault shotgun. (Im still paying it off, once its paid off, ill post a photo lol)

Thank you for sharing Wired

Alright guys so here is what I have.
AK is a Zastava Zpap m70 with a Russian Surplus OTK sling. I would like to put an optic for sure, and maybe a suppressor but I will see. Very fun to shoot.
In the center is a c9 Hi Point which was the first handgun I purchased. The center mag is the magazine it came with, and the other two are extended ones I picked up. The banana mag was honestly kind of a joke and I never use it because of jams and failure to feed.
On the right I just picked it up, it is a Sig Sauer p365X, with a Romeo x compact sight on it. I would like some kind of light/ laser attachment for it as well as a holster, just still need to look around.

What an awesome share Euphoric Euphoric ! Love the blonde wood on the m70! (Ok... fine.. I'll have to drag mine out sometime and post it for you!) Such a beefy and solid feeling AK! Hefty! I don't have any experience owning a HP C9, but when I looked into them years back, I did read sometimes you needed to bend the feed lips a specific way to make the RedBall mags function better. Either way, if only the stock mags work, just rely on those - functionality first and foremost! Great choice on the 365X! With already having a dot on there, no use for a laser imo, but check into the "streamlight tlr 7 sub" for a light. If you're looking to add some capacity, "magguts" makes an aftermarket spring and follower that will turn that 12 round into a 14 round - without much increase in length at all. (I'll post a pic for you to see, soon) So with 1 in the chamber, you effectively have 15 rounds in the same exact size! However they're sorta costly, so you could probably just upgrade to the 17round if you preferred. Depending on the type of pants I have on, I can fit mine in my front pocket - although I prefer something lighter weight usually. Good shit man! When I have a day off and some time, I'll toss out a few pictures of comparisons.

"Pistol" is begging for some MBUS Front & Rear flip up sights and a Sig Sauer Romeo5 1x20mm Red Dot Sight or Holosun. Affordable, decently durable, and very popular. I think Sig is still offering lifetime warranty on their optics too, so if anything ever happens, it's fixed or replaced, forever. Edit: Scratch that idea, forgot I think I remember you ragging on Sig in discord lol. Check into a comparible Holosun... 403 model, I think? Thanks for contributing to the post SirNico SirNico , `bout damn time!

Thank you for those recommendations WiredWrong WiredWrong the streamlight tlr 7 sub looks like a great choice tbh and I'll probably go with that one. That's interesting about the RedBall mags for the c9, it makes sense though given the issues I seem to have with it lol I'll have to give that a try.

Oh to know what we know now. I would have invested in guns and ammo lol. Although, I probably wouldn't be a good investor as I never sell.

Great pistol you have there. If it were me, I would definitely be looking for a different grip as well. It is a cheap and easy upgrade that will make that much more comfortable to fire.

Oh that Zpap is gorgeous. Nice guns. As far as the light for the Sig goes, I agree with Wired on the tlr 7 sub. I would even go with the tlr 7 sub hl-x for maximum output.

Todays gun is the S&W 500. It is the largest production revolver, firing .500 SW magnum. It holds 5 rounds and is interesting because the barrel is actually a rifled barrel in the shroud of the housing. It goes bang really hard.

BTW, all this posting might make me post some of mine!

Y'all get a twofer for today!

The new and elusive; Heckler & Koch CC9. 9mm. 10 & 12 round magazines. Came with a Holosun 407k, 6 MOA, green dot, mounted direct to slide. Fully ambidextrous controls (magazine button release & slide lock/release). Feels solid in fit and finish. Definitely a step up in quality from other micro 9s I own.
But is it worth the cost...?

It is the first HK product to be conceived, designed, and built in America, aimed specifically at the conceal carry market. Late to the "Micro 9" party, H&K allegedly spent over 5 years and over 750,000 rounds engineering this handgun. This gun was subject to and passed the NATO A/225 specifications, just as their full size duty rated guns are expected to do. One of the central themes during the development of the pistol, was that the CC9 had to be “small enough to carry, yet large enough to shoot well!”

Similar in size to the 365 series, it splits the difference between the standard p365 and the XL. The grip length is more like the XL, giving you almost just enough for a full grip, depending on your hand and palm size. While the CC9 barrel is 3.3 inches - right in the middle between the standard p365 at 3.1" and the 365XL at 3.7". I own a S&W Shield Plus 9mm (not at my location right now for pics) but the two have a similar feel in my hand... maybe even similar to a Springfield Hellcat grip feeling.

A couple dislikes. 1.) The front slide serrations are too few. With the recoil spring being so stiff, the addition of one or two more serrations would have made a world of a difference. I've slipped off racking a few times and pinched myself pretty good. I'm hoping the recoil spring will loosen up a bit, and then the slide won't require such a death grip to rack from the front. 2.) Mag capacity could be better, when comparable in length to other designs that offer more rounds. If I'm carrying the CC9 with a full 12rd mag +1 chambered and 2 extra mags, I'm at 37 rounds. With the Sig 365 or XL, 14 in mag+1 chambered , 2 extra 17rds mags, I'm a 49 total. Quite the difference in round count, especially when they're all very similar in size and weight. Again, not a major realistic complaint, but numbers matter and I'd rather stack the odds in my favor. 3.) I wish HK would have kept the magazine paddles and the rear cocking ears like the VP9 series has (show in the final photos posted below).

851pb5.jpg

I'm not sure if H&K will come out with higher capacity mags for the micro CC9. Already the 12 rounders are sitting close to compact size guns. Adding even 2 or 3 more rounds will surely make it the same length as you're already getting into H&K VP9, 15 round (standard Glock 19/G 43x) territory and I don't think H&K will want to compete with another gun they already produce. Probably the reason why they recently discontinued their VP9 SK (sub compact). Here's a comparison to the also newly released H&K VP9 A1 K (compact), sporting a Holosun SCS Multi Reticle 2MOA and 32MOA, direct mount to slide with perfect co witness.

Euphoric Euphoric Just a few comparison pictures I took for you today.
I like the grip texture on those sigs! I didn't realize those were interchangeable, or do you have to change the frame? Also is one a Macro and the other a base p365? Just asking because I noticed the difference on the length of the slide/barrel. I like the look of the 15 round extended mag, but it's good to know that the 17 round mag will fit into any sig p365 model. I will definitely look into picking up a couple of those.

Great review Wired. I'm definitely going to have to get hands on with one. There are so many new options coming out, its hard to keep up with them.

Todays gun is actually a gun mod. This was the WW2 era OSS created "Bigot" dart firing 1911. The gun was an alternative to a suppressed pistol. The trigger when pulled would cause the firing pin to hit the rod in the dart body, which would hit a .25ACP blank in the dart, which would then seal off the tube and launch the dart. The biggest issue would be the limited range from the slow dart.

Sig 365s are modular (the serialized part of the firearm is able to be taken out of the "frame", unlike other guns where the frame IS the serialized gun and cannot be swapped into another frame.
p365-png.286688

The circled part in red is what the actual serialized firearm is. Everything else is able to be changed or swapped. So you can swap out the grip to any other brand that makes aftermarket grips. I've chosen the Wilson Combat grip modules for my standard p365 with the 3.1" barrel, and for my P365 XL 3.7" barrel. I do not have a Macro model technically, which really is just a full size grip module holding 17 rounds with a XL 3.7" barrel and slide up top. You can mix and match the 365's series, swap uppers and lowers. short grip with long slide, long slide with short grip, etc, etc. Icarus Precision is another company that makes grips for the Sig P365 series, but they're too costly for me. On my XL, besides the addition of the WC grip module, on most of my guns I like to use Talon Grips. It gives me my hands more grip on the gun. I choose the PRO version, which is a mixture between their rubber and sandpaper combined. It affordable and gives me the extra traction to grip the guns tightly. Depending on the conditions, how often to handle the gun, if you sweat on it alot, etc, they can last for 1 year to up to 5 years. Easy to install and take off. P.S. In case you don't know, in order of size it goes; standard p365, XL, Macro, Fuse. So the XL I have is the same length grip you have onj your "X" model, but my barrel is 3.7" and yours is 3.1" - and 3.1" is the same size that comes on the standard small p365 - it's just the standard p365 comes with a shorter 2 finger grip holding 10 rounds. It gets confusing when manufactures like Glock and Sig makes so many similar models, hard to keep track of everything unless you treat it like a part time job lol. Always happy to answer questions!

Very interesting! However I'm stuck looking at that classy as **** blued 1911. My god... drooling over here!

Todays gun is the Walther automatic shotgun. It is a 12 or 16Ga with a short recoil system. This is also, as far as I know, the only toggle lock shotgun. The catch on the side drops the mag tube and hand guard for loading. These were not real popular and had low production. Best I can tell, is that it is because the recoil was quite stout.

Ahh I see, that makes sense. I really like the look of the granulated or even the pro grip from Talon Grips that you mentioned. That sandpaper texture seems like it would be a good one. I will keep that and the 17 round macro magazines in mind for the future. I did however decide to get a TLR-7 X Sub light for it and I gotta say I reallllly like it lol. So thank you WiredWrong WiredWrong and Sanguinary Sanguinary for that recommendation. Me personally I like the little bit of weight it added, I'm just still trying to get used to the hold now that the light is on it.

Glad to here you got a good one Euphoric.

Todays gun is the Sjogren shotgun. A Swedish designed, inertia operated shotgun from the early 1900s that was produced in limited quantities and was mostly unsuccessful. This inertia part of the design however, continues today in many modern shotgun designs.

In case you haven't heard, Glock is discontinuing over 35 models.
Lots of deals are going on if you're looking to pick one up, as dealers are looking to reduce inventory in anticipation of a possible Gen 6 release in the next year. Especially since the market overwhemingly lends itself to 9mm, they probably need to downsize production to stay trim in these uncertain ecumenic times.

Really considering picking up a Gen 5 Glock 30 or 29.... would make for a nice midsize, decent power, hiking gun. Current options are a S&W 686 .357mag or a FN FNX 45. Both pretty big and heavy. Would like something smaller and lighter, especially in the warmer months. Might settle for a Gen5 G22 or G23.

Yeah good on Glock on slimming down. Honestly, I have to go look up a lot of the odd ball ones because I can't keep track of them all.

Todays gun is the venerable Glock 19 gen 3. Sporting a 4in barrel and 10 round capacity, this gun set the standard for a long time. Even in its current version, its hard to find much better in a midsize gun.
