M1 Garand:
fps- 2800fps
caliber- 30-06
muzzle energy- 3300 ft lbs.
rate of fire- 24rpm (varies)
capcity- 8 round en bloc clip

Kar98:
fps- 2500
caliber- 7.92X57 (8mm mauser)
muzzle energy- 3697 ft lbs.
rate of fire- 14rpm (practical)
capcity- 5 round stripper clip

as you can see the k98 does have more muzzle energy but i think an m1 could just as easily kill someone with one shot to the chest, the 30-06 round is lighter but is traveling faster than the 8mm mauser round fired from the K98, do you think the m1 garands damage should be upgraded, what other changes would you like to see with the two rifles
 
wow its almost even, if they were to change the guns (damage,rate of fire) what would you want different about them
 
Nah, Garand because in close combat is has extremely fast reload. And its ironsights are more accurate than the kar's.
 
if the m1 did as much damage as the kar98 then it would be unfair....it has faster shooting and reload....not much fairer
 
K98 and M1 have the same accuracy with iron sight. K98 is more accurate without ironsights.

Kar98 has greater stopping power due to larger slower rounds and higher kinetic energy. Definetly would do more damage than the smaller faster rounds of an m1. Same basic principal behind any MG compared to a Thompson. MG rounds travel slower, but have more weight and higher transferable energy.

Lesson of the day. Feel free to contest, I did not research the issue further than basic physics and the stats provided.
