[poll] m1 garand or Kar98

I like the K98 because it seems like it takes more skill, rather than running out and spraying your 8 shots, reloading, and doing it until they die like with the Garand.

I think the garand takes more skill to use because you need to hit them twice. Assuming the k98 misses, you have about 2 seconds to bring the guy down. Good players usually won't miss two shots.

M1 'cuz if I misse I don't have to wait so long to try to save my ass! The K98 reload always gets me!

LOL!!

im starting to get alot better with the m1 and i think it takes more skill, some people said that you can just spray and pray ur 8 rounds but this is untrue, if u do that u wont be alive for long. You have to land two shot pretty quickly instead of just one.

oh and jack of spades ur right about the k98 being another sniper rifle because it is, the german sniper rifle class also uses the k98 but it is the scoped versions. the americans use a different gun the Springfield M1903, it was the standard issue rifle of WWI for the US and it also shoot 30-06 rounds

K98 all the way. Its basically another sniper rifle.

that is the reason why I like it.
Whenever I want to be sniper, and it is full ..
I usually grab the K98...

Kar98 has greater stopping power due to larger slower rounds and higher kinetic energy. Definetly would do more damage than the smaller faster rounds of an m1. Same basic principal behind any MG compared to a Thompson. MG rounds travel slower, but have more weight and higher transferable energy.

Lesson of the day. Feel free to contest, I did not research the issue further than basic physics and the stats provided.

your right about the rifles, the k98 does shoot a little slower but the 8mm is heavier, check out the ft lbs (foot pounds) figure at the top, basically the more ft lbs a gun puts out is how much energy is transferred to the target.

your wrong about the Thompson and MG though, The MG (30cal) shoots basically the same round as the m1 garand so it goes about 2800 fps, the thompson however shoots .45 ACP rounds which go under 1000 fps (they are subsonic rounds) so it is alot less powerful than the MGs. The MG42 shoots the same round as the k98 (8mm mauser) you can check the stats at the top

True, submachine guns like the Thomson and its Axis equivalent are basicly machine-pistols. Full auto handguns with larger feed, longer barrels and a stock, but pistols just the same. I have a friend who has a Sten he converted to full auto 'dont tell the feds', he made it from a 9mm lugar.

Since the push to use the Kalt server I decided I'd actually learn how to use both those weapons. It sucked at first.. now I'm not half bad with both.... still not uber... but getting better.

yeah its always good to use new weapons, im still on the m1 now but i think when i get goo with it (or bored) i will switch to the BAR

i think if the hitboxes are going to be location-specific, then at least make the damage right for the garand. Im sorry, but you take a .30-06 to the chest, say goodnight. Regardless of a faster round, it's still going to kill you. K98 will do more "damage", yes, but a shot from an M1 will kill you just as dead...
