I'm putting a new system together, and I do not want to damage any parts by static. Are there any techniques or possibly wristbands (read about this a while ago) that will prevent damage... or is static overrated?
I personally dont use a wrist wrap. I always touch some metal and ground myself when installing parts. I would suggest not laying the computer down on carpet and installing. Static is not overated. I have seen static charges leave burn marks. Quack
