Just a quick question about ragdolls.

what way do you guys go about positioning them? what i mean is what parts do u position first etc etc then do u make them into statue afe u have them "frozen" in the position you want them?

Oh and as for holding weapons do you no collide the weaon then weld it to the hands etc??

Maybe silly questions but hey lol....

I position the torso first usually, it's the center of the body so you can easily position everything else from that.

Nice sig Thor....I have to stand on my head with a mirror to read it.
I sometimes start with the head to position my ragdoll. Then I shoot it in the torso and relax the head and start sculpting.

It says

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of..."
" THOR."
"Inscription upon Mjolnir, Hammer of the Gods."

This is in a Germanic Rune, though.

First, Credentials: I used to be very active at Garrysmod.org (before they wiped their forums and thus deleting everything I had done, I only had one comic backed up!) and posted many tutorials and well appraised comics under the guise of VEX. I also have an alright background in the art of skinning models.

Little secret from an old time G-Mod pose Ninja: It takes time, and NoClip is a god-send.

Understanding of basic physics and anatomy helps too. Weapon Posing is never fun, especially with finger poseable models. However, when you get it right, nothing feels better. I have rarely, if ever used weld on a model pose.

A cheap trick for crowds and quick poses, spawn a ragdoll on a flat piece of land so they are splayed out in "Cross" position. Statue the model, then lift by the head to the mark you want. Freeze the head, torso, hips, and feet. Un-statue. The arms drop to the sides and if done right, you have a standing model in semi-decent form.

Try that out. Any other questions, feel free to PM me
