How strong is it really. I just bought it and my brother says i need a stronger energy charger or something like that. Is it really that poweful?

I've got 2 78gtx's... one 88 series card, from what i've heard, is more powerful than 2 of mine..... plus, it will be dx 10 capable for future games.

an in terms of power supply, yes ,you'll be wanting a beefy one, i'd say at least 500 watts.

And powersupply brands matter btw, antec seems to be good, but if you want one that will never let ya down, go for a pc pwer and cooling psu. my 510 watter runs an fx-57, 2x7800gtx's, 2X sata 3gb hd's, an ide hd, a sata dvd burner, a cd rom drive, piles of fans, and all types of other crap. never so much as a hiccup. they cost a bit more, but you get SO much out of buying one.

Mimimum requirement is 450watt PSU, so it'd be safe to go with a 500watt+ which is a good thing to have anythings. Better to have overkill than under kill.

I have an 8800 and went for mega-overkill with a 680W psu and have never had any problems. However, before I got the 680W, I had an older 450W. It worked fine for a few days, but I didn't use it long enough to know if it would have been given me problems.

I've heard stories of the PSU burning out for 8800 if it was less than 450W....if u plan on getting more fun toys...a PSU is something u should invest in now...so that u won't be sorry in the future :)
go w/ 1kW!!! FTW

nah you need to go with a 1000+PSU like dyematrix
btw 1000w PSU = 2 xbos 360s playing games at the same time
1000w PSU ~ same cost as 2 core xbox 360 packages
but go with miminum id say of 550 or 600+

yup, dont just get the min, you see...the card may take 450w to power, but then you need to supply power to everything else also, cpu, fans, mobo all that what not. And if you are like me and like to case mod, it requires extra power for fans with led's and case lighting and such

According to the [link=http://www.bfgtech.com/product.aspx?category=graphics%20cards]BFG Tech website[/link], the 8800 GTS needs a minimum 425W PSU with 28A combined on the +12V rail(s), the 8800 GTX needs a 475W PSU with 32A combined on the +12V rail(s), and the 8800 Ultra needs a minimum 525W PSU with 37A combined on the +12V rail(s).

I feel like a broken record because I keep on saying this, but when it comes to video card power requirements, the combined amperage on the +12V rail(s) is more important than the total power of the unit.
