[poll] Nintendo Wii vs 360 Elite

OK... the wife wants a Nintendo Wii, but I've never used one and my only experience reading about the Wii is from a website dedicated to it's many short-comings and the atrocious injuries and damages that have been attributed to it's use (wiihaveaproblem.com).

I however have an original 360 and have enjoyed playing it until it's untimely death about two months ago. I am, of course, leaning towards the 360 Elite at this point.

Any thoughts or personal reviews on the Wii would be appreciated.
 
It's like comparing apples to oranges, one is not better than the other. If you want my opinion though, I would say get the Wii if you and your wife want to have fun playing games together and get the 360 if she is not going to be playing a whole lot of video games.
 
It's not really comparing apples to oranges. I realize that the controllers are incredibly different, but they are both new video game consoles.... however after further discussion and some sifting through game lists... I think I could have fun with the Wii as well. I just don't want to break my hand on the overhead fan.
 
If you don't want to injure yourself or break something playing the wii, then the answer is simple: don't be a moron. My roommate has a wii, and its just about the funnest thing ever to play when I'm not playing dod. I can't fathom how anyone could actually break something using it though, just always wear the wrist strap.
 
i think injuries only happen when like Fry said people act like morons.. or starts spazzing lol
 
stick with what you know is good. you have had an x360 and you really liked it. what if you get the wii and you hate it. wow u just wasted a good 3 or 400$ w/e they are now.
 
lol u wont break any thing , just be careful and dont start swinging like crazy or hitting stuff..lol... wii is good plus its a great work out =)..
 
it wouldn't be a good 3-400... the Wii is only $250 retail. Around half the cost of the 360 Elite. HOWEVER, if your 360 simply broke, get it fixed!

You may not be aware of this, but MS has bumped up the factory warranty to 3 years of free repairs. So even launch consoles now qualify for free repair.
 
i would say get a wii....girls from what ive seen play more wii than anything else....and its a blast with a bunch of ppl.... i own at bowling and cow racing...lol

I say that it is like comparing apples to oranges because they have vastly different hardware and will not have any of the same games as each other. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 can be compared head to head because of similarly powered hardware and common games. You are asking us which one is the better system and I am saying that they cannot be compared in that way.
 
The Wii is more of a Novelty system, if you rarely play games it's great! But when you want to have a serious gaming session, you're gonna hafta get a 360.
 
Thanks guys.. I think the wife is going to win out on the new system. The 360 has been shipped off to MS for repairs; $140 for a full rebuild and they are paying for the shipping and extending the warranty another 3 years.
 
The wii has awsome games like zelda mario and new ones like blazing angels X-box dosnt have any classics like that and from persanol experiance (sitting up playing zelda) it is awsome. X-box dose have gears of war but thats why i play DOD :p
 
You might want to chat with MS about the repair costs.... unless it broke specifically because of something you did, it shouldn't cost anything to repair it?
