Forum Fiend
Not so long ago a fellow clan member had edited the wikipedia on DODS with a very great history and story of EGO. I thought I woulds check to see if it was stil there today, but alas it was not. i GUESS you really are not supposed to edit them even though there is an edit button

The article was placed there by someone in the forum who did not have permission from the eGO owners. It was removed.

The way it works on this server is that it is run as a mature gaming clan, by adults, not kids.

The frounders/owners (Artimus and JohnT) both owntheir own companies. Art is music, JohnT is a practicing lawyer. The eGO - Edge Gamers Organization is a legally registered trademark. That means that people risk being sued in court of they transgress that trademark in any way,

Art and John pay the bills and take care of the high level needs of the clan. Council is composed of extremely trusted members of the clan that each have their own specialty in contributing at a nuts and bolts level and act as a sort of Board of Directors.

eGO is run tighter and cleaner than most other clans. The admins that make the cut to eGO are held to a standard that is beyond any other clan I've ever seen.

Anything that is done in the name of eGO can't be done by a member of the server, it has to be with the permission of the owners. Council stomps pretty hard on anyone who breaks that rule.

Also, do not edit Wikipedia and plop eGO on there. Does it look like other clans are there? Wikipedia is an objective website & not a place to advertise unless the article is meant for DoD clans.

This is exactly right. I was the one that removed the eGO section after someone mentioned adding it in another topic about it. Wikipedia is not the place to advertise your clan. Just because everyone can edit it does not mean that everything belongs on there. It is an encyclopedia, after all.

Don't act like they're squashing expression. It's not a public forum, it's an encyclopedia (as I said above). Some things just do not have their place in an encyclopedia. Feel free to go into the DoD:S article and add a section about CAMP2 or fix some typos or misinformation. That would be welcomed.

I was just wondering what had happened to it. and the answers that I got were great. Again I did not write it in the wikipedia but I was looking around internet today and noticed it was gone. Thank you for all the responces.
I really wasnt expecting so many.
Makes me feel good that you guys really do read these and have such strong feelings about them and the clan.
glad I am a part of it

effectively anyone can write about anything for wikipedia, for instance I could write about the Queen of England. It isn't up to her whether I write an article about her or not. So you can write something about eGO if you want to because you have that right, but eGO would prefer it if you didn't. You could write an objective story mapping out the life and history of edge gamers, but it hardly seems viable to do such a thing.

If the Wiki community allowed for clans to be mentioned and featured in gaming articles, then there'd be no end to the clutter; countless clans would end up listed in a topic in which they have no relevancy. Whether or not Edge Gamers proper wanted to be listed in the DODS article, the clan doesn't belong in it.

infallible explanation

yes you can make your own. I have changed some things on wiki but not to extream but i see why clans cant edit articals good point mate.

wiki is overall not a trusted information website because people can put whatever they want about anything so you can not really trust anything thats in there

Wikipedia tends to be good for general information. But the more complicated the subject matter, the less people there are that are qualified to make factual statements. The bias issues on Wikipedia are another big problem, and another issue altogether.
