8800gtx overheating

My 8800 overheats when I play bf2.

Specs:

Intel 6600
8800gtx
600W psu (apevia)

I reinstalled my video card drivers and have 5 case fans (one pointing directly at the card) and the card still overheats. When I play bf2, after 5 minutes, certain textures begin turning yellow, sometimes the triangles appear, and then my computer locks.

Since the card is eVGA, should I just get a new one? It idles at 58C @ 1500RPM with stock cooling.

Thanks.

I "thought" my x1950xt was overheating also but really a recent AVG(antivirus soft) was messing it up so about a half hour in game I would crash. If you have AVG installed you might want to try uninstalling it. Dod works perfect for me now
I really do not think your 8800 is overheating unless your overclocking quite a bit, try reverting to older drivers.

Take Care

Just save up about a 100 bucks and buy a good fan & Heatsink. Every review I've seen they all say the stock fan does NOT get the job done. :) Even a 50 dollar fan would do better than the stock.

but you ddint tell us what temperature it gets when under load.

More case fans doesn't mean better ventilation.

What kind of case do you have? How much space is in there? What are the rest of your computer specs? When did this start happening? Do you have a/c in the room that your computer is in? If not, what is the ambient temperature? Did you over clock your card?

I've also been having bf2 problems lately with 2x 7800 gtx's.

Previously, i've never had any issues whatsoever, but since i tried playing with Bigbird last week, i would get hard-locks after about an hour of play...

The only thing i can think of that has changed were my video drivers..

previously, i used NGO optimised drivers.... but lately ive used more recent Nvidia stock drivers....

Antec 900 case
Gigabyte mobo, Seagate HD (7200rpm i think), 2 gigs corsair ddr2, stock hsf for processor
Yes to ac
Whenever I started playing bf2, this started happening.
As far as I can tell, it's only with that game though.
My card uses stock clocks.

Well..the 8800 is one big card , and , needs a better fan than the stock one..which..is...err..like most stock fans ..crap.

Also , if you have one of those in a mid-tower case with out a side grill...thats a no-no..it's too confined..

Well , either way , Good luck

Joe

is it possibly the drivers cause thats what mine was...
some of the old drivers can be conflicting with new ones
other wise at 58o C idle not bad , but if its during a game like you say and if it gets more than bout 90o C thats getting way too hot mine runs at 65 - 80 o C
