Anit-Virus

Hey guys, I recently upgraded to Vista, and my old anti-virus (norton anti-virus 2003 or 2006 dont remember ) dont work, so my question is, do you guys know an anti-virus that works with Vista?!?

I think Kaspersky does.... Try that or NOD32. Bitfender + Vista Aero = Resource hogging POS

Both are good, not sure about Vista Ports though.

nowadays avg is crap, unfortunately. as per the most recent two antivirus comparatives. I am running norton, you just need to get 2007, Kaperski is AWSOME i highly reccomend it. Nod32 is ok i guess, it scores high, but doesnt do it for me. Kaperski came in first place for least obtrusive and fastes running pc by cnet, and highest effectivity by antiviruscomparatives

Norton is just bloatware it roots itself into your system and there's NO way to get rid of it completely unless you reformat. Which is why we don't use it at Casey Moving Systems. We use Kaspersky... But that's besides the point. The only GOOD Symantec is the Symantec Anti-virus... (Not Norton) it's a totally different program/code. Nod32 scores high and does its job.. IF it can even open the files... which most viruses already get past Nod32 because they lock themselves up. (Nod32 skips locked files)

I don't use Vista, but I do run AVG. It's always been smooth, quiet, easy to purge and re-install, and uses very little resources. As for how well it works, I cannot say; I don't download the types of things that are typically laden with viruses.

I personally think Norton is a virus in itself, it may not seriously harm your computer but it's just as annoying and difficult to eradicate.

I don't really understand why people hate AVG so much. It's always worked for me beautifully. It never interferes with what I'm doing and gets rid of viruses if I ever get them quickly and painlessly. I've used McAfee once (then quickly got rid of it, in doing so it crashed my computer ) I have also used Norton. It's worse than a virus because it doesn't stop itself!

AVG destroys... 83% of all viruses.... Visually, that's alot. Statistically it's CRAP... That leaves like... 400k plus viruses to infect your comptuer. I have to admit.... AVG used to protect 97%... but now it's just crap. (The free version at least)

ive been using CA Antivirus since I got my dell about 8 months ago. I got a year free of it from their site. It works pretty good on xp, but I got a 90 day trial of it on my laptop that uses vista and it takes forever to scan :/ oh well.
