Gaping hole found in the universe

well, i feel enlightened to know that our universe has a hole in it. i hope it doesnt have to do with that panzershrek of yours :p

lol, the pic isn't a picture of the hole. If you're refering to the picture on the article then (correct me if I'm wrong) that is a galaxy. A hole in space would just be an area of space that had nothing in it, no galaxies, no dark matter, etc. Therefore I'm guessing this so called hole would just be a black area in space. No cool parties happening there then

It aint a hole either, it's just a part of space we haven't decorated yet. We're not sure what to do with it. Storage room for dark matter? A few junky galaxies? The list goes on

Well corp, you have to think of space in a 3-D perspective, we may see a galaxy a billion light years away or so, but there is nothing in between us and that galaxy. Therefore making the hole that we are part of.

so whats the area of the hole? if it's 1 billion light years across then lets say its a sphere. 4/3¶r3 ¶=pi

4/3*500mil*¶*3=
666666666.66666*¶*3=
1999999999.99998*¶=
about 6279999999.9999372 cubic light years.

thats a lot of empty.
