Jeff Wayne's Musical "War of the Worlds"

Ever heard this? It's absolutely amazing, it's a musical version of War of the worlds which is one of my favourite books ever. Though I've never seen the film, avoided it like the plague. Just wondered if anyone else liked it.

Jeff Wayne made a musical version of war of the worlds. I'm not sure if it ever reached your shores, but it was an amazing musical version of the book.

no, though I have always wanted to. I heard that it was presented in such a serious way that when people turned on their radios midway through the broadcast they actually believed that martians had attacked earth. I don't like the idea that the broadcast takes the story from its english roots and gives it an american spin.

It was, but it was amazing. They told the story like it was a news report on the radio, and they actually had to take repeated breaks to tell people that it was a hoax because people were literally starting to riot and panic. My dad recorded the entire thing on his reel to reel machine and I listened to it as a kid and it was amazing. I'm sure if you wanted to find it there are torrents out there of the audio file.

i hated the movie. It was building up pretty good and then it basically just ended because the stupid tripods got aids or something. kinda disappointing...

Well, the point of it was that humans won the war because they were immune to diseases that all of the aliens were very susceptible to. Watch the original War of the Worlds, it's infinitely better than the PoS movie that Tom Cruise starred in.
