what about after selecting the picture u want? where do i place the selected picture?

what do you mean by that? if you were selecting a picture, then you obviously did it for a specific purpose in mind. Place it wherever you deem necessary? You can save it to your desktop or save it in your pictures folder, or save it in your my documents folder?

I'm using vista, never had any problems with it...

Hmmmm, I would suggest going into the tech forum. Stuff get answer pretty well in there.

Vista takes getting used too... i thought it would be absolutly a disaster... but its just a fancy XP

Thought i still think Microsoft spys on you if you have vista :\

Yeah as far as screen shots all i can explain is ctrl + V to paste it.

err its hard to explain. lets say i had to take something out of the shot i took. then i wanted to move the selcted cut peice out to a blank document to put in imagehost or something.

as far as i am able to work out you are looking to take a screenshot of something and then edit the screenshot so a specific part of it remans?

If that is what it is then all you need is the print screen button and microsoft paint....and having vista will make no difference in this case...

Maybe if you explained what it was you were trying to do properly it would allow people to help you better.

#1 - if you are looking on a website at a picture the website has - you can save it by right-clicking the picture and going to "save picture as" and save it on your harddrive.
#2 - if the portion of the website you want to sve / coppy is text you can probably highlight it and copy and paste it.
#3 - If the portin of the site you want to save is both text and pitures or any combination of just text and or just pictures and you want to keep the formatting and everythign else, then do as people have said and use printscreen and paste into paint. ONCE you do that, use the paint tools to highlight the sectino of the page (now a picture) you want to keep and go to edit > copy. Then make a new paint file and goto edit > paste. File > save. DONE!

If neither of those is what you would like, then please enlighten us with more detail about what you are specifically trying to do, or how you want to use the end product. Feel free to leave out the details about you wanting to pine over your ex-girlfriends picture on myspace or how you just have to save to cool new pron you just found. No need for any details other then your problem.
Also note that none of this have anything to do with your OS, and should even be independant of browser. You will want to - or may want to keep in mind that most websites are copywrited and you need permission :cough: before using their site or pictures in any way.

Oh sorry, one more thing. Vista isnt a program or application - it is consittered and Operating system. Programs run on Vista. But if you felt lik getting into a discussion about how windows 95 ran on DOS then be my guest that sounds fun.

the rpoblem with my new computer is that vista came with it. my borther is going to downgrade it to xp which is much easier and comfortable for me. thank you green monkey i think i was very stupid. i'll try what u said and post if it was good or bad. thank you
