Not exactly how I wanted to start my racing carear

Today was my first competition drag race on my v-rod. I qualified last week for 3rd so I went off fairly early in the day. My first round elimination race was a against a Buell Firebolt XB9R. I ran a e/t of 11.35 seconds at 114.22 mph and took the first round win. I was freaking out, I might as well gone home because I had already felt like I won the event.

My next race didn't go so well. I had to face another v-rod and I think I psyched myself out. We both did our burnout, pre staged, staged, the the tree went amber-amber-amber-green......... but for me it went red :(. I left the line .008 seconds too early and was disqualified.

I was pretty upset, I would have rather lost then take a d/q in my first race. I'm happy I got a round win atleast with a great e/t, but GRRRRRRRR! Oh well, just have to work on my launches before my next race.
 
next time ur freaking out, drink some monster or take adreneline or something and then blast some heavy metal and ull be wanting to do some crazy butt things...

cant blame you for jumping the line. you got excited and jumped the gun. What was the other guys time? Would you have beat him with your original time?
 
I saw the red out of the corner of my eye so didn't finish the run. He ran a mid 11 if I remember right - I do know it was slower that my first run. It was an 06 VRSCA vrod which has 10 less hp than my 07 VRSCD at the crank and a hell of a lot more weight.
 
Hmmmm, maybe you should try road racing instead... You'd have to buy a super bike though. noth that im a huge bike guy..... Porsche FTW!

Trust me MOP, it happens to all racers :p I'm living proof lol. I don't drag, but i auto-x, and my first 3 runs of my first race, I had a DNF. So no worries man :p I did end up taking first in my novice race category, and first in my actual HS category on my first race (HS = H-stock).

Don't beat yourself up too much MOP, you'll beat them all at the next one :D
