...sign up for the Steam beta for the Steam Community. It's really great. You just hit shift+tab in-game (any steam game actually) and you can chat or voice chat with other people in your friends list. If you use XFire, there really is no reason to continue to do so. Steam Community is basically XFire integrated within steam. We should start using this instead of XFire, as it is easier for new people to use since it's built-in and not a third party program to get.

You can sign up for it in STEAM under "betas"

there are plenty of reasons to continue using xfire.

1) Friends list isn't limited to other steam games/account owners.
2) xfire in game chat is still FAR better and much less buggy.
3) Xfire has easy screenshot management
4) xfire lets you manage manage server lists for any online games you have, not just steam games
5) more people use xfire.
6) much more in-depth friends management and messaging.



The only thing the new steam update did was.

1)remove the friends button from main game menus and force you to use shift-tab
2) add funny pictures next to people's names
3) allow you to add anyone you've recently played with to your friends, making it that much more likely to be hounded with unwanted friend requests.

The Beta of the Steam community messed up my ingame voice. only way to get ingame voice to work was to opt out of the community

yeah the beta did mess up my voice but the official is fine and i cant use xfire cause its corrupt... so to me its pretty good option if you cant use xfire

You can change the Overlay bind, you know. I have mine set to Page Down seeing how I regularly check my scores as I'm sprinting to battle.
