Well, if it is a myth then I admit my fault. However, I do know we backed Iraq completely during the Iran/Iraq war and sent them money, weapons, and training to aid against their (and our) communist enemies. Regardless of what weapons they were using, they were most likely using our money to buy them.

Iraq was not fighting Communist for us, they were fighting Iran. The old maxim 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'. We kinda took the '79 hostage thing a bit personal. Thirty years of fun and games and still counting. It got even more full of chuckles when we started selling weapons to Iran too! Win Win baby! I am tired now Thor, go to bed!

Well Iran was Pro-Communism and Iraq was Anti-Communism. So our aide to Iraq was not only to battle our new enemy but our old enemy as well.
