I need a PCI-E vid card 256 or greater. Anyone willing to give me one out of the kindness of their hearts? I guess not...so can anyone just tell me the best ones in the price range of 100 - 300 =/ and how would I go about installing it without killing my computer in the process.

First and foremost, do some research on your motherboard/chipset, and find out the best brand (nvidia or ati) that will work and/or have the best performance from it. Also, Some bigger cards require extra power from your PSU, so make sure you have enough power for that.

Other than that I think it just comes down to how much money you want to spend, and what type of card (gaming/media) you need.

This is nice if you are willing to spend a little more:

And this would be great if your on a budget:

and this fits into the 100-300 dollar price range....people who dont read others posts annoy me

If you are looking a nice card check out the gforce 7900GS its a very cheap card these days and does a pretty reasonable job. I got mine for £125 ($250) back in february so im sure they are cheaper now. Other than that possibly a 7900 gtx if u have a lttle more to spend, i really wouldnt touch DX 10 cards unless your gonna go for the mentioned 8800 series.

Yeah youre gonna be in the 7900GT range. I believe 8800gts is less than $300 now isnt it? If so, that is the best bet. Although I play TF2 with my 7900GT and I have no problems.

I wish you luck on someone giving you one though. :p

Instead of a 7950GT, get a X1950XT. Its cheaper and it performs better. If you want, you can wait till October 29 for the 8800GT.
