The two biggies:
1. Connecting to servers remains a big problem. I have Vista and I can do it, but I usually have to bring up Task Manager first and do some fancy footwork. No two things seem to work in a row. Hopefully the patch coming out soon will fix that.
2. Shouldn't need to be said, but here it is: Damage. Gun damage needs to be upped pretty much across the board.
Others:
1. There's no sprint option.
2. There's no prone option.
3. You can't pick up guns (neither teammates nor enemies).
4. There's no smoke nades (that would come in handy, methinks).
5. Melee weapons are pretty much useless.
6. When you run out of ammo (or metal if you're an engineer), you have to go way back to base to get more.
7. Not enough maps. I think there's only like 8 of them. That beats the 4 DoD:S had when it came out, but still. It used to be that games came out with 12 or more maps, with some games wtih 20 or 22 (wink at ID Software games here).
Now... Having said that... I really do like the game. It's funny and quirky enough to offer a lot of enjoyment. I've been playing a lot of it over the last few days. DoD:S has suffered a lot, but part of that are the WTF moments and lack of change. I still love DoD:S, but TF2 is a lot of fun right now. Perhaps I'll get tired of that soon, as I have all others excepting DoD/DoD:S, but I suppose only time will tell.
The Good?
1. Cartoony feel is actually a breath of fresh air. It has the air of 'fun' to it. There's the voices and sounds, the achievements, the taunts and cheers, and of course what the sprites look like.
2. Many, many classes, each with their own distinct look and sounds and abilities.
3. Medics. Cool that you can get points by healing teammates and yet get the occasional kill yourself with a nailgun.
4. Spies. I suck at them so far, but they add a really fun aspect to it.
I like the big speed differences between different classes, most evident between the Scout and Heavy. Get a medic attached to a Heavy or Soldier and they can do a lot. A lot to say about the game. More play will be necessary to flesh out better info.
