Getting a New Computer soon.

My Current Budget is Under 500$ No more. So I went out and found a "kit" Of Supplies for pretty cheap.

So, My question comes down to this. Will this be a good build, for the price? And does it use cheap materials that will break within a year?

I only looked at the GPU.

According to the reviews made by users on NewEgg that card has very good value. One review said he can run WaW on max settings on 1680x1050 with no problems.

I hope your budget build works to your needs.

I would go with the new phenom II. Get the phenom II X2 550, it is a dual core but you can unlock the other 2 cores to make it a quad core which is amazing.

Seems like a good build. That Processor is amazing. Even with 2 Cores.

I'll consider the build. I want as many options as possible before buying. I don't want to buy it, and find out I could of got something a little better. Of course, That will happen anyway, It won't happen as bad I guess you could say.
 
Do you have enough money to get an ATI 4870?? You seem to have enough left over unless your getting things like keyboards and such.
The ATI 4870 will run WaW max and get around 80fps or more at 1680X1050 im guessing? MY OC 4850 which is almost at the 4870 clock speeds can get around 70 and up so you should be fine wit a 4870.
Im recommending a 4870 because this one is really cheap and basically the same price as a 4850, difference of like 10 dollars on the one i was looking at but i think the cheapest 4850 is 90 bucks if you are tight on money.

This doesnt have free shipping but is still the cheapest and with shipping it will come out under $125 after rebates which is amazing considering most ATI 4850's are over 100 bucks still. My choice would be to go with this 4870 over the 4850 but if you need to save 30 bucks then go with the 4850 but there will be a somewhat big performance margin i believe. I'd say around ~10-15 FPS but im not certain. This 4870 also has an aftermarket cooler already on it so the temps should be good but its probably not the best cooler but better than the referance ones by a ton.

This is 95 bucks with free shipping but its worth it considering all the 90 dollar ones didnt have free shipping so it would probably cost more than $95. This one is also Sapphire which is one of the top ATI brands on the market so thats a plus. It also has an integrated HDMI port.

i can't, because AMD also uses defective quad and tri cores, where the 3rd or 3rd & 4th core dont function, to make the 550 BE so if i enable the 3rd and 4th core i just get into an endless loop of BSODs

only if they run out of defective quad/tricores they use fully functioning quad cores with 2 cores disabled

so in conclusion:
chances of turning 550BE into a quad core, don't keep your hopes up

Chances of having a dual core that PWNs the snot out of the CORE2Duo line, guaranteed

yea thats true, agreeing with all your posts. Its the same setup with the ATI 4850, they took the 4870 chips that couldnt clock up to the standard clock speeds or were defective and just put them in a 4850.

If that's the case, I might as well just go with the AMD Quad.

I might consider a 4870, Or the 4850. I already have a monitor, Keyboard Etc. I just need the computer itself, If any of you were wondering :D.

I'll keep looking. I have a month to decide officially. Seems like more than enough time.
 
Get a power supply from one of the following companies. They make high quality PSUs that have excellent ripple supression, voltage regulation, efficiency, and can output what they are rated at(unlike many other companies PSUs, example: ULTRA), even at higher temperature such as 40C-50C. The PSU is definitely a part in the computer that you cannot skimp on for quality.

Personally, the Corsair HX750 and HX850 are my power supplies of choice, although they may be a out of your budget and probably more power than you need.

Well, I do want to TRY Crysis. I've never been able to run it before. It looks like a great game, Gameplay wise of course, And Seems like it's worth a try. I've heard that Nvidia cards run Crysis much better than ATI Cards. I might get a 9600-9800. I need no more than that. Besides Crysis, I'll just be running Source games, And a few other ones that are a bit older.

For me, A 9600 Seems like the best. I mean, I don't need a huge graphic card. No 295GTX For me, Nor do I want one. A 9600 Seems to run a ton of games perfectly, So I've heard.

I wish I had more of a budget to spend, But that's simply not the case. While that's the case, I might get what I've said in my first post, BUT, Take all your suggestions for upgrades. I'll be upgrading next around Christmas. Now, While new parts do come out, and Hardware gets better, I still plan to have the same suggestions you guys made. I don't want, Nor need a Computer with 8Gig of Ram or anything. Seems useless, I think so anyway.

Not that you guys are going over the top. I love all the suggestions your making. Perhaps I just need to get basic parts first as linked in my first post, and upgrade. It seems it would be the best thing to do. If anything does die, Or get corrupt, It can (Usually) be replaced easily.

So, Im still up for suggestions, But I mostly want a good Barebone kit, Like I've posted. Saves the hassle of ordering all the parts separately. GPU can still be suggested, as Im ordering it separately.

Thanks for all the kind suggestions. Im sure If I posted this somewhere else, I would have gotten bad responses, and people complaining about my Price limit. This is why I love eGO!
 
The 4850 is about 4 times better then the 9600GT and Crysis will run ok just not on max everything, if you get a Nvidia card go for the 9800GTX+ or a GTS 250 as they are pretty much on the same level as the 4850. 9600 is a pretty weak card for 1680x1050.

I agree, there is quite a large gap between the 9600 and the 9800gtx+/gts250 and the radeon 4850. For a little bit more you get alot more. :)
 
Forgot to tell you guys. I don't run games at very High resolutions. The Resolution I run about 99% of my games is 1024x768. 1680x1050 is WAY to high of a res for me =/. Max Res I have on this monitor is 1280x1024. I'd grown used to it.

So now saying that, Should I still get a 4850? Or a 9800 or GTS 250?

If thats the case, go with whichever is cheaper. Right now the 4850 is the best buy for you being that it cost $95 with free shipping on newegg and the other are $100 and up even the discontinued 9800gtx+. Don't get the regular 9800GTX, there was a reason they came out with the GTX+ right when the benchmarks on the 4850 started rolling out, they had to match the performance of the 4850 or beat it. They mostly just matched it but beat the 4850 in some.

I say go with the 4850 but its only $5 cheaper than the cheapest GTS 250 or 9800GTX+

The GTS 250 is a rebranded 9800gtx+, nothing new at all. It even does worse in some games so i wouldn't go for the GTS 250 at all. 4850 for me all the way in this situation.
