Ok I have the chnace to buy a brand new ATI Radeon 3870x2 from Asus Republic of Gamers for $100.00,

what do you guys think?

Right now I have two 4770's in Xfire, and am not happy with my DROP in FPS because of one pci-e lane being 16 andd the other being 8, so they crossfire at 8x which is 1.0 standard.....and I GOT a 20% DECREASE, so i want a kick ass card for cheap which this ASUS R.O.G. HD 3870x2 is....

Any opinions?

Quickly please!!!

With One 4770 -65-180 fps call of duty 4 everything on, extra textures, 4xaa, 1680x1050 rez
with two 4770's- STEADY 75fps call of duty 4 only specular map, bullet holes, ragdolls, no aa, 1680x1050 rez

All in all i had to use quto tune function to get the most out of these cards, and i wasnt happy. I seriously had better gameplay with a single 4770 (i feel).

So I am thinking i would get dramatic Improvments with the 3870x2 off the bat no OCing, an dthen use Auto tune to tear items up, on top of that I would be at pci-e 2.0 16 bit not 8 bit like i am now with 2 cards...

Save your money and get a new motherboard that supports 2 x16 lanes

From the bench marks, one 4770 beats a 3870x2 on some games and vice versa on others... so from the perspective of 2 in 8x then a 3870x2 beats it... but it'd be cheaper just to keep both 4770s and just take one out.

honestly, 4770 CF is really good, it beats 4850 cf for some reason at some games. You should honestly just upgrade your mobo and fully utilize the 2 4770 because they are faster than a 3870x2 and a 4890.

Heres a link of 4770 crossfire performance vs 4890 and some other cards. By hte looks of it, its by no means worth upgrading your GPU because they are actually really fast. I say just upgrade your mobo to 2xpci-e 2.0 slots.

Actually, this is even better. 4770's are amazing in CF.

lol ummm i dont know if you noticed according to ur last post about upgrading to a 4870 and all that but he already has two 4770's in crossfire ;) so he doesnt need to upgrade at all, just the mobo so he gets the full performance

lolwut?? Yea I was agreeing with you. He was saying that he wanted to get rid of his 4770's to get a better single card (ie 38070x2). I initially was saying, if he had to do that, just save a little more and get a 4870 or GTX 260. BUT, after reading ur post i realized that I had completely overlooked the option of upgrading the mobo. I wasn't suggesting he get two 4770's, just go with your idea and upgrade his mobo so he could let the 4770's reach their full potential.

haha okay my bad.
I cant wait till the 5870x2 comes out, want that baby so bad because i dont have two good PCI-e slots. Just one PCI-e 1.0 x16 which should be enough from what i've read. If anything the performance drop is only a few FPS like 3-5.
