Is it just me, or all headsets pieces of crap?

I just went through my 6th different headset, after about 4 months of use. The right ear stopped working and the left ear was still working but it came loose and was hanging by a thread. I got it for about 40 dollars. If I want a headset to last me a little longer than that am I gonna have to spend over 100 bucks?

Most likely.

I have a pair of PC-350's, and these things have leasted me for nearly two years and are still going strong. They sound amazing, and they are built like a tank...

That's the new headset I'm getting. Sennheiser is an awesome company!

I would have to say it's definitely just you...
My headset has worked flawlessly for a year and a half... now I'm trying to sell it.

Yes you'll have to invest some money into a new headset probably around the $100 mark if you want it to work for a while. Quality is sometimes where the cheap stuff is at, but it all depends on how you use it... don't abuse them! But for the most part, quality is what you spend $$ in.

I have a Creative Fatal1ty headset and it's lasted me for about a year and a half so far. It's been through my daughters using them, and my dog getting a hold of them one time. There are probably better headsets out there, but these have been pretty good so far.

lol try to take care of your stuff. i've never spent over 15 bucks for a headset and my last one just died (or so i thought) from the same thing as you said, except it was the left ear that stopped working for me, after like 4 years....so i bought another $15 dollar set and turns out it happens to it too...and the real problem is the front audio jacks on my computer, loose wire or something and my old headset still works actually

Check out some JVC HA-RX700's. They go for about $35 and get awesome reviews. Have to splurge for a clip on zalman mic too.

If you get something made by Seinheiser, beware of AWESOMENESS, I've had my headset about a year now, and the only thing wrong is I have to tap the wire to get both earcups to work. BUT, this is only because I have 4 brothers taht use them all, and slam them, really hard. and I get mad... maddddd...

I bought a Plantronics like this one back in 2000, still works great, I use it everyday.

I use a turtle beach hpa2 and has lasted me a full year now and still looks and sounds like new! The cheap headsets do not last! (trust me I know)

Seconded!! Those are definitely a good deal, way better than any headset you can buy at that price.

You aren't mistaken, headsets are either notoriously known for their shoddy construction or their inflated prices. I would just get those headphones and get that clip on mic for only 10 bucks mroe. I guarantee it won't fall apart unless you purposefully break them.

I just ordered a pair of steelseries siberia full size gaming headset. These thing got really good reviews from what i read on google and there hasnt been one negative one. The only problem with it is that its not for Bass junkies. The bass is right in the middle which may be either a pro or a con for some. ITS ALSO CHEAP around $60 on amazon because amazon is amazing like that. Its usually around $80-90.

Amazon also sells one with a virtual 7.1 sound card for $75, $15 more than the one without a sound card. The sound card sells for $35 alone so it might be a good deal if you go for it.

I personally just went with the $60 one because my onboard audio is good enough and from things i read, there is no difference to the regular human ear. Unless your like an amazing audiophile, you wont really hear a big difference. Most of the tests show onboard audio performing identical as some of the best sound cards except for one part but i forgot and it wasn't that much worse.

yup got the same phones. Awesome sound quality, no breaks of any sort. Had it for nearly a year now.

Great headphones. I had a razer but that one broke. Same with the logitech i had. The sennheiser seems to be holding up though.

For those who own the PC-350, I recommend this mod to bring out the bass:

I've used it and it really improves the sound quality of the headset, which is rather flat and lifeless stock.

I've never had problems with headsets breaking within a few months. My previous two headsets lasted 2 years each, and I just recently bought this new one about a month ago.

Previous two were Logitech, this new one is Razer.

i agree the cans are a little flat stock, but my x-fi module helps a lot with that.

Yeah, I'm running an Asus Essence STX card and I still have to say this mod really brings the headset alive. If you are craving a more up-front midrange and bass presence on the PC-350, this is the answer.
