Playstation 3 $299.99, worth buying?

Well, Just saw that the Playstation price got cut down to 299.99. In the next few weeks, I'll be getting some extra cash, and I'm unsure if buying the PS3 is worth it.


I own Xbox 360, and rarely play it. PlayStation has some very good games which I wouldn't mind trying, but unsure if I want to throw 299 away on something I'll never play.


So, give me your thoughts.

I have a PS3 and I love it, but there about as many good games for the 360. $300 while much cheaper than the $600 starting price is still a massive chunk of cash.

If you don't play many games on the consoles then I wouldn't recommend the purchase. Also then again if memory serves me correctly they were packaging PS3s with Killzone 2 and or MGS4. they are both worthwhile.
 
Yes especially if you are interested in Blu Ray movies as it is the best Blu Ray player on the market. Free online gameplay bluetooth controller/headset. Its features and capabilities outweigh the 360 by far
 
My PS3 sits in a corner and collects dust. Technically, it's my Dad's, but neither me or him can find anything useful that it can do.

Maybe we should reenact the scene from Office Space where they destroy the printer/copy machine. That would be epic.

Its a blue-ray player too..



Anyways, yes totally worth it. I def recommend to get the ps3.
 
I recommend it, but its more of a hardcore base. Alot of sequel games like MGS4, Resistance, Killzone 2, stuff like that.

Which are GREAT games (although killzone2 irks me in that you have to achieve the highest rank to snipe, which was a pain) but ya i still play it alot.

Its got some quirky titles too such as LittleBigPlanet, Fat princess, stuff like that.
I had a WII hated it, bought an xbox and i hate halo so i got bored fast, so i settled with a ps3(partly for MGS/LBP)

Ive had it for a bit more than a year now and i love it.
  • Its free PSN (playstation equivilent to live)
  • Wireless recharable controllers (without batterys)
  • Blue ray player which works beautifully
  • Doesnt have the issues like xbox with red rings and stuff, so your looking good in the long run.
Get one man, its worth it.
 
Well, it's a good quality blu-ray player. You get internet browsing abilities on it too. Idk about the games though. If you have a nice TV, it will look sexy :) OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG Tombraider on my LCD HD 64" would be fun :)
 
I have a PS3 and Xbox360. I love them both but I like the exclusives on the PS3 alot more. Uncharted, MGS4 & Ratchet and Clank are my 3 favourites.
 
the xbox 360 elite price is also being but as well, i would say buy the ps3 more its peripheral value i.e blu-ray capability but the 360 does have more games and more of a following for its online capability if that is what you enjoy or as sexybeast hints at, you could also use the cash for other things such as upgrading your pc with a killer vid card, ram, motherboard, powersupply etc.

btw, if you rarely use your 360 than would really use the ps3?
 
After reading some of these posts, I'm going to give it a shot. Blue-ray, good games, free Online.

It has a blu-ray player in it. You will use it forever.


Also, the games on it are freaking awesome.
 
Heard it's a lot weaker or something. I got the $600 PS3, love it but just don't have much time to play it.
 
The PS3 is probably the best system on the market right now. They don't have a red ring of death like the XBOX 360 does and it doesn't play stupid childish games like the Wii. But, it also has childish games if you do have a child that wants to play a game. Here are a few reasons why the PS3 is better than the XBOX 360 and the Wii.

1. It can do everything for you.
2. You can put an OS on it like Vista or Linux
3. You can play online for free without any or little lag, unless you are playing sports games, different scenario.
4. A large variety of games are available for the PS3.
5. You can surf the internet and watch youtube videos and can watch Hulu videos.
6. It is a blu-ray player, so instead of wasting $1000 on just 1 blu-ray payer why not spend $300 get a gaming console/computer/blu-ray player.
7. You have folding home on your PS3, which eGO is running RIGHT NOW!
8. You don't pay for internet game play and the graphics are amazing
 
If you have an HD tv, then get a ps3. Otherwise, you won't take full advantage of the blue ray, etc.
