This was posted just a little while ago...from the TF2 Beta 2.0; looks like the medic's blutsauger and ubersaw are going to get nerfed:

can't say I'm surprised; in their current state, both weapons are blatant upgrades to their original weapons.

I don't think the medic should be nerfed IMO. Why make a "weak" class even weaker? No one has really complained about the Blutsauger and Ubersaw (from what I've seen).

What do you guys think?

No.. just no.
I honestly think the medic is FINE now, somewhat able to defend himself and an uber-harvester in the right hands. But whatever Valve.

Yes, lets make the one class every team needs even weaker so even fewer players will go medic, smart going valve ;)

ah, only the blutsauger is really bad.... but it is usually just used to keep alive, while on fire or getting out of trouble, it is more the +3 then the damage caused

The ubersaw well it is bad that you lose your power of 1 hit, but more hits equals more charge, besides usually it ends up in a crit anywaysto end a melee match.

I know someone who would not be happy if this happens (no not me)

and they make a good point, both weapons are obvious upgrades over the original weapons ( i mean who uses the original bone saw and needle gun?) however they are not OP. If any thing i think they should INCREASE the stats of the original weapons to make them more appealing.

All i can see this doing is giving people less of an excuse to play medic, and there are to few of them as it is.

Valve has nothing better than to ruin this game. I mean, the medic is already a weak class and you barely have people playing it. I am sad, Valve is starting to make the same mistakes that EA did...pretty soon nobody will play Valve games.

ARG Valve, WHY?:facewall:

There is no reason whatsoever tu use the Syringe Gun and the Bonesaw. However, I thought of different changes for a balance change...

The Beta 2 Blutsauger is pretty close to what I had in mind. The Syringe Gun was supposed to be the weapon of your choice if you want to kill, the Blutsauger when you want to gain extra survivability in another way - the HP drain. Currently the Blutsauger does as much damage as the Syringe Gun AND the extra damage from the HP drain. It deals more damage than the Syringe Gun and it gives you health, too. It's an upgrade, not a sidegrade. At All.

The Beta 1 ?bersaw's "nerf" is both, a curse and a blessing. Because the Medic deals less damage with every hit, he has the chance to gain even more Charge than before. If you have to kill an enemy it will take longer, giving the enemy more time to kill you.
I don't like the Beta 2 ?bersaw at all. Damaging yourself for meleeing may not be a huge problem if you're ambushing the enemy or getting a lucky crit but if you have to defend yourself, using your ?bersaw hurts a lot.

I hope Valve will not make the Medic class less fun to play, if even less people play Medic, we'll never see any in game!

Well I use the regular siringegun, because there's a lot of med packs on blackmesa. Of course I use it also because of the crits. The thing is with the blutsauger is that everyone does use it except a few people including myself. That's a reason it takes more skill to use the siringegun over the blutsauger, and you really have to aim at the right place to get people because the +3 doesn't come up when they get hurt with the siringegun.

I would have about 220 kills with it or so if the stats weren't reset, and even that I would have more because I haven't played as much the past 3 or 4 days. The great thing is no one expects me to ever get the crits because they expect the blutsauger every single time a medic shoots at them. If you have become used to your blutsauger, go back to your siringegun and see what I mean. After this nerf if it does happen, I don't think I'll mind going back to the bonesaw to kill people faster.

Regardless of what happens, Valve lost their touch with this game a long time ago.

NOOOOOO!!!!!

I play Medic 99.9% of the time. I mean come on I am a Dr. Though a 5 year old vietnamese child of a Dr.... But as the announcer says, "He's a real doctor."

fixing what isn't broken, seems like that is what Valve is doing recently. They should just buff the needle gun and bonesaw.

While they are at it, they should kick everyone in the face you used the ubersaw because they were basically cheating by using it.

Every since the L4D fiasco my Valve fanboyism of 11 years is fading.

I don't mind the ubersaw getting a damage reduction (get's me uber faster) But the blutsauger is perfect the way it is.

The best way to nerf the blut sauger.... giving the syringe gun a taunt kill

im not opposed to the damage reduction on the ubersaw, as it stands now its such a clear upgrade the bonesaw isn't worth it. Even after the damage reduction I would likely continue to use ubersaw because it would probably still be better

as far as the blut goes, the health reduction would be a big hit, but its balanced out somewhat by the added survivability you would receive. imo this would make it a true sidegrade. my personal preference would probably switch back to the syringe gun if this was implemented though as the extra 25 health on the biggest target in the game would make me too fragile as I like to play kind of aggresively

Hmmm...
Speaking as a career medic, I kinda see the point of downgrading the alternate weapons. Think about it:
1. The alternate medic weapons, as they are now, are fairly adequate at killing and defending oneself. I've certainly killed my fair share of flanking scouts and unaware pyros with them.
2. A buff to the old weapons would then either make the medic better at killing, or add yet another alternate medic ability they have to think up, animate, etc.
3. A more combat ready medic WOULD make the medic popular, but that would also make players more prone to use him in a "Combat Medic" style, a style Valve probably wants to discourage, similar to their choices with the Sniper unlocks.

As far as the Beta nerfs are, I prefer the -25% damage Blut, and I actually like the -20 health saw more than the other one. I only pull the Saw out when someone ambushes me or I can ambush someone else. Either way, that person NEEDS to DIE. A 25% damage reduction would make using the Ubersaw a suicide mission, because at that kind of range, almost anyone you're attacking can kill you back in a second or two. The loss of health means you only take it out on lone enemies or emergencies, but thats a good trade off for something as important as 25% uber.
