My (small) WWII Medal Collection

Wow Brock, that is a lot of stuff. My great-grandfather was drafted but couldn't serve because he had flat feet, so I can't even imagine how things could have changed if he had. Anyway, very impressive collection.

I..don't think I have any family history like that. My family is not honorable lol. We're all pansy's :P

Brock - if he's still alive, please thank your grandfather/great-grandfather for what he did during that time. It's hard for me to express my thanks for those who served in that war. If it's at all possible, give him a hug for me too lol. I would love to get the chance to shake his hand.

i got a friend whos got more WWII stuff than most antique shops and ebay re-sellers put together. Ill see if i can post some pics of the coolest stuff hes got. But ill just share off the top of my mind what i know he has:

Maybe a hundred helmets from each theatre
Dozens of complete uniforms ranging from dress to Paratrooper uniforms to 2nd rangers outfits to pacific theatre designs.
A few Guns.
Hundreds of medals and pins and patches.
Hundreds of photos.
Couple journals kept by soldiers in various areas of Europe.
Bunch of other stuff i cant think of right now.

Ill try to get pics if i can. But its a SWEET collection.

But what i Have is my Grandpa's Dress uniform, his Bastogne (battle of the bulge) Trench Winter Coat, All of his canteens, couple scarves, and a purple heart.

Non-related, ive got a helmet from the English that i found at a garage sale. Ive got a couple dozen pins and an iron cross. Ill upload photos as soon as i can.

Very cool stuff. :thumbup1:

That's actually got me thinking about what my grandfather might have from the time period as well. If I remember correctly he was part of an artillery battalion during WW2.

This thread is 2 years old. Please dont try to revive threads that are 2 Years old.

WHY IN GODS NAME DID YOU BUMP A THREAD FROM 2007??!

Oh well. very interesting. :D

what does it matter if its 2 years old or not? Bottom line is that its a good thread. Who cares how old it is? Ive been in eGO for 2 years and ive never heard of a rule or understanding that a thread can not be posted in after it has reached a certain age.

What's the big deal about how old the original post is guys? :confused1:

It's not like this was a debate or "time sensitive" in any way. Just someone who wanted to show a collection. If someone recently came across this and wanted to comment, what's the harm?

So relax, it doesn't hurt you to just ignore the thread if it bothers you that badly.
