Hey guys i am having a issue with my video. After leaving my pc alone for awhile, when i come back to use it my monitor screen is black. The screen saver is running and there is no issue, but when i got to move the mouse it is black. Also if i turn off my monitor and when i go to turn it on its black then to.

Could it be my video card or my monitor maybe? i need help bad because it is keeping me from playing. I get tired of reseting the pc and i just leave it off.

What kind of OS, video card (including if you have an onboard video card as well), connection type for the monitor, and connection type for the mouse/keyboard (ps/2 or usb) do you have?

I use vista and my video card is geforce 9800. I dont use the onboard video it is turned off, and the onboard video is ati hybrid<onboard sli if i use a ati card> . I use dvi for my video connection and usb for my mouse/keyboard.

What kind of monitor do you have?
What kind of motherboard do you have?
Also, how long is "a while"?

Yeah what metro said.... But you can check your os... I'm running windows 7 beta and it does that after about 30 min.... I had to go in and change that... also your screen might do that on its own... if you look in your owners Manuel you can see how to change that... Hope this helps...

You might want to check your BIOS settings when you first boot. There might be a setting like "wake from usb keyboard". If you see it, make sure it is enabled.

I meant: How long do you have to leave it before this problem happens? 5 min, 30 min, 2 hours...

its different everytime. I let it sit for 4 hours last night and i had no issues. and i seen it happen after letting the pc sit for 15 mins. And this afternoon i had the problem again. its driving me crazy.

Ah - This is a power problem, Vista takes a LOT of power, i had this problem a long time ago, ok, heres a few things you can try :
Go to settings, control panel, system and maintenance, power options, then select High Performance.

If that doesnt work (Which it didnt for me) Your best bet is to get a higher PSU (Power Supply Unit) Im currently using a 1000watt one, maybe a bit too much, but it certainly fixed my problem, just buy a new PSU that has about 200-300watts more than your current one.

Good luck!

I changed it to high performace and i will see what happens. I doubt it could be my power supply. Its a new one and its 1000 watts and its a very good quailty one.

i dont have power issues. Also i called acer and they said its not the monitor that it would be the MB or my video card
