Don't post your opinion unless you have played both. Be specific with your WoW experiences please (like level and expansions played.) Try to be as specific as possible with your reasoning, because I am really stuck with this decision.

Definitely the wrong section.

Another battle has been created but instead of PS3 Vs Xbox360 its Aion Vs Wow

AION wins WoW loses, gameplay, character customization, interface, etc. all better. Only that once you buy the game you better have a cred card or your not playing. You need to set up a payment method for at least a month giving you 2 months total. But its really made me angry that I dont have a credit card and am unable to play.

Personally, I liked WoW better, but I think that is because it's kind of like my home for MMO's. It was the first MMO I really enjoyed, and venturing out of WoW's interface and setting is tough for me.

WoW is a good game, i played it quite a bit back in the day, i think its a great game i havent played aion but i can tell you WoW is addicting as hell thats probably why i have a few characters that are quite high level and fully geared for their level... :s

He did say he wanted the opinions of people who had played both games, so he doesnt get biased ones.

I have played both, and although both games are really good, I would recommend you to pick up Aion because it's a new game that came out just recently, so everybody is more or less on the same level.

I had good times playing WoW, but I started playing it really late...it was out for like 2 years before I picked it up so I felt like I was way behind compared to other players.

Anyway I think you can't go wrong picking either of the two. Both games are great fun. If it was me, I would pick up Aion though, but just because it's more "newb friendly" than WoW.

i just bought Aion for the first time on Wednesday and i love it. i only played WoW on a trial account and it wasn't that bad. but i think Aion blows WoW out of the water because just the character creation alone is sick. im not basing me decision just on that alone, overall game play is better, its more realistic where WoW is all cartoony. WoW is fun, but ill have to choose Aion

How are the queues on the North American servers Bob ?

On the European ones you can wait for 4+ hours before you can log in. I hope they fix it soon because it's a really good and fun game...when "they"(NCsoft) allow me play it that is.

I actually just purchased Aion a few days ago and upon reaching level 20, have found the game exhilarating. Upon reaching one bar into 20, I have found the game turning into a massive grind, with the lack of quests ranging from 20-into the abyss. I am scared to see what happens after 30.

Bottom line - Pre-20--Aion wins
- Post-20--WoW wins

Although this isn't based on much experience of Aion, and only one class, the current gameplay foreshadows a dull leveling and a dull end-game.

I actually have a question concerning Aion.

How full of scantily clad generic girls is it? I was annoyed like hell in WoW, every loading screen had your generic Elf porn star in their..."armor"?

Aion looks cool as hell, but I don't want to get into your typical RPG where your female characters run around in nothing but their skin.

My problems with Aion...

Other games trying to compete with WoW were atleast original games...

NCSoft on the other hand just took a popular mmorpg from Korea called "Aion" and turned it into english...

It's only a ripoff if they change the name. There's nothing wrong with expanding good things. It's not like they took the idea and made the same game under a different name. Not to mention, NCSoft has made some of the greatest MMORPGs type games to date. We're talking the same guys with GuildWars, and City of Heroes/Villains. They are not new to this. They didn't steal anything, they just know what they're doing.

I have played WOW since beta, and Aion since beta. That being said. I've played WOW into the ground and just don't want to play it anymore. Both games are well made and interesting. I find that Aion has a more interesting and well thought out world environment, while WOW seems to have a more easy to understand and ignore environment.

I don't really feel like we can judge them against each other. Of course people are going to think one is better than the other for whatever reason, but to judge them correctly, Aion needs at least a year to develop and flesh itself out.

Think back to the early days of WOW, was the endgame really all that big and exciting? Not really, there wasn't that much content. Aion will develop more endgame once there are actually people there to play it. And really, can anyone say they never had to grind anything in WOW? Ummm yeah, if you have rep with a faction you've grinded a few mobs in your day.

And there is no point in discussing graphics or customization differences. The games are two entirely different styles and made in two completely different manners. The furthest I would go is to voice an opinion of which style you prefer.

They are both solid games, and I think that we'll see Aion flourish and turn into a widespread game like WOW has if it can keep its player base for the time it needs to really turn into a home for players. Of course those of us that have played WOW for 4-5 years are more comfortable there, we've seen everything and always know what to do. After your first max level characters in Aion you'll feel that way about that game.

I think this discussion needs to be put on hold for about a year. Ask us once we've had time to fully explore the game, as well as given the game time to develop into its potential.

Bravo Ace, that post was on point and it's true; Wow was/is very much MMO noob friendly whereas Aion tries with its video tips but it really requires a more experienced player to truly get a grasp of the game without struggling through it hardcore.

I am currently a level 21 Gladiator and loving the game! Grinding seems to be a little more fun to me, and it is perfect for me!

I've played both, and I can easily say that aion is better. WoW was fun, but after a while of playing and getting stuck (played in a party that strayed me off course i.e. walking far away and doing a completely different quest), I got bored of it and didn't want to play it. Aion felt fresh and relieving when I played it. Its vibrant use of colors kept me staring at stuff for minutes (maybe too long). It didn't have the addiction factor that WoW had though. I like to play it every once in a while (instead of thinking about it all the time like I did with WoW).

I've only played a bit of WoW when it was first out and starting, however it didn't grab me like Aion did.

I played through the beta of Aion and have created several characters and played through multiple times and even though the quests were a bit dull (because I've done it just that many times) I still rather enjoyed it.

I'm currently level 26, and from I heard level 25-29 you would go into the "Training Grounds" where it is basically a instance with a group, and then after that you do all the quests that you have been collecting so far. The boss inside the Training grounds drops 1 Blue gear I believe that you can only collect 1 per character running through it. Though you can go through it multiple times with multiple characters to collect a "set" of gear for level 30. http://www.aionarmory.com for more details.

I've done a little pvp in the abyss, though my class I would be better off waiting until level 28 to do so, since then I would get my first FEAR spell. Oh and Silence. I got ganked a few times in the abyss and I've helped fight for my faction a few times as well.

I'm Elyos. See the contact card for my server and info.

^^^ Great Post ^^^
yesterday i was considering buying this, but now i might just end up renewing my WoW account
still not sure but the things that worries me that you mentioned is end-game gameplay...not sure what the level cap is or how fast you can get there, but that was my one main worry that i would find myself max level and nothing to do after you are there besides rerolling

i'm not comparing the two games obviously because i haven't played them both but the one thing that has made WoW great and successful in my mind is the endgame stuff you can do,
