Did I just join cs_office at a bad time?/freezing between rounds

Hey everyone,

So I've been getting a little bored with TF2 lately so I thought I would try a little CSS. I joined the eGO cs_office server and was surprised with what I saw.

First off there was an argument going on for about ~5-10 minutes about religion and how it was a terrible thing in the world and all the wars it causes with the counter argument of why its good.

The second thing I saw, and I know this isn't really anyone's fault, but for 2+ hours (I played for 30 mins, left and came back 2 hours later to see the same thing) but the T's were completely dominating the CTs. The round would start, the T's would rush office or garage and the round would usually be over in ~2 minutes.

It was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Did I come at a bad time? :O

Also, I am getting a weird loading problem on eGO servers.

As soon as the round ends, my game freezes for ~30 seconds then unfreezes (after the round has started). This happens most of the time on all CSS eGO servers.

I tried out the webkiller and a couple other servers without a problem and my rig is more than capable in regards to handling source.

a. In addition to what ONE said, if there was an admin who knew what was going on and did nothing, it would be good to let a higher-ranking admin know about it.
b. Should have had more creative CT's; office has plenty of options, so there's no reason for a team to get slaughtered.
c. This does happen sometimes when the servers are getting full; office especially is notorious about this. MOST of the time it happens to everyone so it isn't a problem, but it can indeed get frustrating either way. The "authorities" know about it and do whatever's possible to reduce lag, but really it comes down to having too much action on one server box. Sometimes, all we can do is bear with it and hope that solutions are found soon.

if there was an admin, he/she should have dealt with it. Or you could PM them about what was happening

Which admins should I add for PMing?

This is just how that team played. CS:S does not say that you can not use the same strat over and over again. If the teams were unbalanced, you could try telling them to switch or PM an admin

I was just surprised the game stayed imbalanced for so long. I've found that cutting games down to like 15 rounds or less/team scramble when there is a certain number of wins seems to work.

This might just be your PC or router. I dont have this problem and my PC is like 5 years old.
Were you downloading something or burning a CD? That may be why
If office or dust are full it happens sometimes. The top corner says like bad connection or something like that. It happens often in events too. For office, I think this happens because office's file the .bsp is pretty big.
I hardly ever see office full though. When im on, it usually says theres about 30 people

My PC is an intel core 2 quad, ati 4830, 4 GB ram and the internet connection is a t3/d1 (9mb/s uploading and downloading). There was nothing running in the background.

I also did not get the internet connection issue and this only happens on eGO servers. There were only ~14 people on the server at the time.

Think it might be some kind of block script messing with my game? (The game is a fresh install from steam)

^^ you sould add as many admins as you can in you friends list, arguning about religion is kinda racism and needs a ban by an eGO but any eG could settle things for a while.

It's because we have our most popular servers on one box.

Lag was the freezing problem. It's normal for most servers that are as populated as ours.

we know about the lag here. we have 4 servers on 1 box. please try to bear with it. thanks, and that arguement shouldnt have happened. you should have went to one of our other servers and gotten an admin

I would guess that it was either 7pm or 11pm UTC/GMT -8 hours

Thanks for the info! Guess I'll just go elsewhere while I'm waiting for the office server to clear up

CSS side has lower proformance servers, can expect lag/hangs/hitbox lag.
My advise is to just get used to it.

If there were any admins on, the discussion about religion should have been ended immediately. Please add me to Steam (Aidanmcw), and befriend other eGO Admins to alert when something like this is going on.

As far as teams are concerned, as long as there is an even number of players on both teams, nothing can be done. Try new strategies with your team.

Unfortunately, when all the servers on the box become full, the servers lag. There's nothing that can be done about it.

Just wondering, how many eG's and eGO's are there for CS:S? It's very rare for me to see one on the office server whereas the Dust2 and most if not all TF2 servers seem to have em.
