UPDATE: PROBLEM FIXED!

Recently, TF2 just freezes in-game, with no chance of TF2 unfreezing (waited 5 minutes). This does NOT happen on any other game I play, and it's getting frustrating.

I've defragged the game's cache files, and it still doesn't work. My GPU's temperature is fine..And I still don't get why this is happening.

Specs:

Intel C2D E4500 @ 2.2ghz
2GB RAM
eVGA 8800 GTS 512mb version

Can't even play 30 mins on TF2 without this happening, and then some lucky person kills me when I've somehow timed out.

P.S. When TF2 freezes, I can still talk to people on ventrilo, and they can still talk to me, and my winamp still plays in the background, and I can change tracks with my G11 keyboard.

What operating system are you using?
When did this problem start?
Did you do anything to your computer around the time of it starting?

The only suggestion I would have at this point is to try reinstalling TF2.

I use Windows XP 32 bit. And it started within the past 3 days. And the only thing I do when my computer is fully started up is launch Steam then TF2, or just click on TF2 icon to do both and open Ventrilo and Winamp up. Nothing else.

Also, I use AVG anti-virus.

EDIT: I found this on Steam support. I know that my sound is integrated, my video card is installed properly and up-to-date on drivers. And I've always had AVG as an AV for a long time..However, I'll try switching AV to something like avast! AV.

If that doesn't solve the problem, I'll reinstall TF2. After that, I'm all out of ideas.

I had the same problem before kind of. I would get hiccups every minute or so that would last about 5-10 seconds each time. Was very annoying.

I downloaded this from FPSBanana and it clears all unnecessary content out of your TF2 folder. I've recommended this to other people and they say it's helped.

Ugh. This is so frustrating. I thought this would work, but it didn't..It just happened again -.-

EDIT: I increased the paged pool size of my computer to 256MB. Hopefully this will stop the crashing. I've read that AVG had caused TF2 to sound loop crash

Did you uninstall AVG? I have had similar problems in the past and uninstalling AVG did the trick.

So did you ever uninstall/reinstall TF2? More often than not that fixes a lot of problems, kinda like unplugging and plugging back in stuff.

Yes, I uninstalled AVG, and increased paged pool memory. Still doesn't work..And I just froze again, and without a doubt my character was killed in-game.

I'm going to try doing that during school tomorrow. It's too late to try for today.

EDIT: It's a sound loop crash. I tried the paged pool memory thing, but it has not work. :/

I increased pool paged memory from 0 to 384MB, uninstalled AVG, and redownloaded TF2. Hopefully this works.

EDIT: Holy crap, it STILL doesn't works..What the hell.

Well, when you "freeze", is it kinda like normal lag? like your frozen, and everyone else is, but you can still look around?
Also, try restarting your computer.

It's a freeze that doesn't unfreeze.. can't look around or anything. Restarting doesn't help.

How Much Space does your Computer Have Left And are you running any Programs During you are playing because if your Computer has lots of games it Could slow it down. It happens to me ALL the time on COD4 Every 45 Min but thats because it OverHeats ....Hope this Might Help....Good Luck

The only programs I run while playing are Ventrilo and Winamp. And I have around 50GB or so left (I actually had less before this started happening). With all these so called "fixes" I see on the Internet, none of them work for me.

Including increasing pool paged memory.. Also, my GPU is around 50 something degrees at most on full load.

Do you notice anything specific happening in game just before you freeze?
