Network HELP!

I have a network problem where my internet cuts out and when i check to see what internet connections i have it comes up with NO connections, meaning it isnt my router. SO it is eather my adapter or computer.
It cuts out at total random but no matter what i cant find out why!
Sometime sit does it 6 times in an hour but other times it doesnt do it for days on end. I am on Windows Vista and have gone through all the solutions they give me and nothing worked and i have checked all the normal stuff. My network adapter is a Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card

So the actual network adapter in Windows disappears? If this is the case, I would first check to make sure that your mini-PCI-e card is seated properly; sometimes they can become loose. If it's not loose, it could either be an odd software issue, or possibly a motherboard electrical issue (or something completely different ).

Just an idea if you chk all the "usual Stuff" Hardware seated etc. Try and make sure your PC doesnt have any viruses, Malware, Rootkits etc. Run your virus scanner and if you don't have it try running Malwarebytes on it and see if it detects anything and if it does just remove it. I've had this type of behavior out of my pc once and it was 100% a Rootkit Dropping my Connection then Reestablishing it later to "Spam" Random Sites.

It doesnt have any virus's i checkes, IT ISNT THE ROUTER!!!! and it new comp and it doesnt seemt o be loose =S i think it coule be vista soo guna wai for my windows 7 to come, then if it dont work, feel free to help hehe, but still keep giving me soloutions, cuz i need to fix this

Do you have other things connected to the router on wireless also to prove it's not the router? Nothing you have said has proven it's not the router except you yelling it's not the router.

What router DO you have? It's just a question, it will help to get an answer maybe.

I used to have that problem all the time, and I haven't had it since I did one thing. With XP, Vista AND Linux all had the same issue so it wasn't the OS...


It was my router (I had a Netgear router, also had issues with a Trendnet AP too)

all the wired stuff worked fine... just not the wireless... completely random, no pattern... just poof gone...


PS. when you said you checked for virus' does that include malware and other things like rootkits as well? They are totally different beasts... I've had to fix more malware ridden systems then any with a actual virus. Most of the malware I've dealt with attack the net connection is some way, maybe not the same, but in some way.

I did actually prove it wasnt the router by saying i couldnt pick up ANY networks eg. my neighbours(which i should) and yes i have other things connected to it and they work fine.

Well it's hard for you to prove anything without telling us, we are just supposed to assume that everyone can pick up neighboring networks that always exist?


Have you checked Dell's website for updated drivers? I know you said the PC is new, but if they've released drivers for your adapter since the adapter was built (whenever that was) they might not take the time to update all the driver CDs for their systems.


Have you tried changing the Channel your router uses? Maybe the different routers are conflicting with each other causes your laptop to not get proper signal from any of them?


Do you know if your running on 2.4 Ghz or 5Ghz Frequencies?


How many different things are connected wireless to your router?

How many different networks are in the area?

Does windows handle your wireless or does dell have their own program to handle it?


Final Note: I googled your adapter and a lot of people are having the same problem with theirs on Vista and XP

Oh and don't forget, Windows 7 is based on vista... so might not change much.

Windows 7 was a complete rewrite. It has features similar to Vista's but it's not "based" on vista.

Also I had similar problems. I have no idea why, but one day my adapter just disappeared. It just reappeared though after about five reboots so I've got nothing as far as whats causing this. I think it's just Windows and that adapter. Because I booted up an Ubuntu LiveCD and the adapter was there and working fine.
