if you want the band name to be a .something without any advertisements, you'll just have to pay for it.
$10 isn't really that much, especially if you've got free hosting.
You could get a cheap .info or something else... I haven't really looked at domain prices in a while, but just check godaddy.com

Yeah. 000 is a great free host. I definitely recommend them.
You will want to purchase a domain name for sure.
If you need any help just let us know.

JUST a domain name you can get pretty cheap if you go .info or something like that...sometimes you can get it for like 99 cents.

I really would recommend just paying the 10-20 dollars (depending on the name and if you want identity protection from domain researchers/stalkers). Worth it in the end. =)

.info 86 cents aka 54 p uk pricing. what is that last bit ? confused lol im pretty new to this

do you know if you can use sites made in dream waver on 000?

Explaining the last bit:

If you buy a domain from godaddy.com (or really anywhere) they need your personal information (name, address, etc).

So...

Say I go to godaddy and want "www.hidden-street.net" but it's already taken. You can actually click a link and find out who owns it.

UNLESS you pay the extra cash (like $10 I think) anyone can type in your domain address and find your information.

There are other ways around it too (if you're a business), but for just one person to purchase it's worth the extra cash unless you don't mind people getting your information that way.

As for dream weaver: I personally don't use it so am unsure. I just use adobe and good ol' fashion coding. D: I am sure if you look around though (their website/google) will help you find out.

ahh right, im not that worried to be fair.

by using adobe and coding you use photoshop and jscript?

so you guys suggest going with godaddy then. ok
if i park the domain with them can i get it out and use it for my site when ever i want as i still need to build it.

.tk
.co.nr
.2ya.com

etc...

these are redirect sub domains... but gets the people to the site with a short clean url instead of the long ones.

Aye there should be 3 domain names they should give you. To link the domain name registration to the actual hosted domain space.

Example:
ns1.namedomain.com
ns2.namedomain.com
ns3.namedomain.com

Personally I registered my two domain names from godaddy and used the whois protection lookup they have. I also used a coupon from Amazon on checkout from godaddy. I highly suggest you look up online coupons for the site you buy from to see if you can get a discount. The coupon code I used was "GOAMAZON" w/o the para. I can't remember what it fully did though but I remember it involved 10% or $10 off. It was an instant useage coupon, and can be shared. As for the webspace I had a friend of mine let me use his space from Dreamhost. He has an account that has unlimited space, bandwidth, and a few other goodies.

cool thanks all this has been great help.
at the moment im working on one of these free site things one of the band member had set up but forget to tell me about so im guna develop that a bit the build a site
