My Arcade Cabinet Build (56k warning)

I haven't been on much for a couple of weeks. Had a lot to do, including wrapping up this project.

It's taken a couple of months, but I am finally done.

Built from the ground up / scratch. Details of some components are in the first post of my work-log.

Well, its primary setup is MAME, so it handles arcade ROMs; SF, TMNT, MK, Pacman, etc...

I also have NES, SNES, N64 and Daphne (laserDisc emulator) on there. Plus it has an e4300 at 3.0 Ghz and an Ati 4670, so I could run some steam games. I might do just that with Street Fighter 4, since I went sans the CD-ROM and that's the only legal way to play it without the CD being in the player.

It's also networked, so it can serve as a jukebox.

Pretty much whatever has ROMs made for it. Right now I'm doing mostly arcade games, i.e. Street Fighter.

I have considered MANY times if I should even attempt to make my own arcade like you have done. Been into mame for at least 5 years and just have never had the time to build a cabinet. If you don't mind were did you go to look up all the wiring and what not to do it... basically the assemble for it?

*blush* thanks man. Lol. Cost wise, sheesh, more than it could have been. After school settles done for the semester I'm going to sit down and figure it out. Minus the computer and monitor I'm thinking in the $500-600 range, but I could be off. Maybe I don't want to know, lol!

Part of why I wanted to do this was because I'm a "practitioner of all, master of none". It did require many of the attributes that you listed, but not to the extent that it wouldn't be feasible for the average Joe. I used (and learned on the fly) Google Sketchup for the designs. This also helped a lot with the geometry/angles. Check out the bartop variety of cabinets, or the mouintain jukebox type, very small and low budget, but with awesome end results.

That one site will lead to all other sites. Very good and very informational. Some of those builds really put mine to shame (I still love mine though . )

There are many places from which to buy parts, NOS or after market, plans and blue prints, etc...
