OC'ing a Q6600

What happened to good old Prime 95?

I run Prime 95 over night to test for final stability. But I use Intel Burn Test's extreme mode to find out if it's stable more quickly. Get's temps up a good 5C over Prime 95.

i have a Q6700 and Asus mobo OCing my proc to 3.06 with just fan cooling :D and it idles at 33c or a tad higher underload about 56c plus i have 5 fans in case also 2-200mm top and front and 3-120mm 2 on sidepanel and 1 on back of case

stock HSF???

How long do you have to run intel burn test to find out if its like somewhat stable then do Prime95???

I usually use OCCT for the quick test and just set it at like 3 hrs or around that

ya im curious about this intel burn test vs prime95 too. i usually just use prime95 to test for max temps (gets almost 10c higher than any game/prog i run normally) and run it for awhile to test for stability but i hate having to test for stability for so long each and every time i want to bump up the speed a minimal amount
currently have my phenom ii x2 550 at 3.7ghz on stock HSF with no more than 56c with prime95 testing full power/heat output. max of like 47c when running a demanding game. but i want to try to bump it up to 3.8ghz with the multiplier and test stability, then work on the bus speed
