Jailbroken iPhone Questions

Hey all, I'm on T-Mobile and my 2 year contract over in a few months. With the new plans they have, I don't need to sign a contract, but I will have to pay retail for a phone. I'm pretty sure I could get an iPhone somewhere for cheaper and jailbreak and unlock it myself. I have an iPod Touch now and the transition over would be easy for me.

My question is for anyone on T-Mobile with an unlocked iPhone. What services are you still able to use on phone? Do GPS, Visual Voicemail, etc still work? Will those work without a data plan?

Everything works but you won't have 3G which is gonna suck, you will only be running on edge.....there are guides on youtube and stuff on how to get a data plan and which one to get, the cheapest plan is like $10 a month now...there used to be one that was $5 a month unlimited but they changed it to $10

Nothing that requires internet or data will work without a data plan, unless you're using wi-fi then everything will work. Of course voice mail and stuff like that will work if you have a regular phone plan

I see, is 3G not available from T-Mobile? Or is it a location thing? I don't think a data plan will be a problem see how there's wi-fi everywhere I go. The only stuff I really care about is GPS and the traffic, but I won't really be using that much I suppose.
Thanks for you input :)

iPhone sucks without 3G coverage... yeah it's a good device.. but why buy a corvette if your only going to use 4 of the 8 cylinders ?

Just my 2 cents.

tmobiles 3g network operates on a different 3g band than T-Mobile's 3G network.

You can get 2G/Edge on t-mobile.

I have a 3GS and it's the greatest device i have ever owned.
