Cant use Options panel or it explodes my CSS

Every time I open CSS, my name is reset to whatever my brother was last using, instead of what I was, regardless who was on last. But thats not my main problem.
If I use the Options panel to configure settings or change my name, I CANNOT PLAY. Mooving my mouse left and right moves my character left and right, up and down just moves the camera. All microphone becomes total buzz. Also CSS isnt registering my microphone. No error message is registered. It just totally stuffs up my game.
Has anyone got a solution, or at least a hotfix?
 
ya, reinstall CSS to start from scratch - delete any and all skins or added downloads and dont' let your brother screw with your CSS game/settings again
 
when you open steam games right click on CSS and go to properties, click on set launch options and make sure its empty. that is the only other thing that i know from experience with CSS that messed up the options menus. i have no idea what would otherwise cause this problem
 
To uninstall i just clicked delete local game content then redownloaded, is there an actual uninstaller?
 
no thats the uninstaller.
thats weird like junk said check your start-up command line for CSS.
or there could be a virus (you never know) but i doubt it.
 
Yeah my startup is empty. Gah. Now I have scout skins for my hands but there are no custom skins in my things.
 
2 Questions:

-Are you using Windows Vista? (or,.What OS?)

-Are you the administrator for the machine or do you have admin access?

I would be happy to help you, but I need the above questions answered before I can make an informed suggestion.

If you still have skins then it didn't uninstall fully. You could try using Revo Uninstaller then reinstall.
 
But I didnt have skins to begin with.

Yes, I am using windows failure, and yes I am admin.
 
Check the permissions of your config.cfg file.

It's found (usually) in "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\*ACCOUNT_Name*\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\".

I'd say: Delete the whole CSS folder.

Takes notime to DL again and it's easier than other moar advanced options.

Eh, im just using console now. Only hindrance is I cant change my spray. Ty for the help though.
