Noctua NH-D14 yes? no?

i think so. its definitely compatible with most, but im unaware of any 120mm fans that have different fan mounts. one can be placed on either side

Saw that when they posted it, and now I'm actually considering buying it.

It would be well worth the money, because the performance is top notch.

Minus the fans being pretty ugly, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Part of the high price is you are paying for VERY high quality fans with the heatsinks. As well as 2 of them.

yup the noctua really is top notch.........the fans alone go for $20 each.....they may not give you the highest CFM but they give your the highest CFM for the noise they make, if you add another Noctua fan onto the NH-D14 you get 3 and its virtually silent from what i hear. It is a bit on the expensive side tho but its the best air cooler out there right now and it comes with quality fans so its actually a good deal if you think about it.

As for mounting the H50 on the case door, you might not want to do that. Reason being is that it will be a hassle if you take your side panel off, moving the tubes and extending them where they shouldn't and all.....you might snap something off or make it leak or something. Its the reason y no one puts it on the side panel pretty much haha.
You should either put it on the front intake fan, or the exhaust fan spot and make it intake.

Well, I looked on a review on some site as well and said this thing is just as good as some water cooling kits, so that's impressive.

If the price if affordable to you, then it's a no brainer.

The thermal compound is also very top notch. When you buy a Noctua, comparing to a True or Megahalem. Remember for about $20 more you can two $15-$20 fans and some amazing thermal compound that normally sells for $10 alone.
It's a steal for the price. Although it is atrociously ugly. l

If you are willing to pay and know what to do, go for water.

yea.....i might dish out $200 for my uncles water-cooling setup, hes got like a triple radiator and all that and VGA block so i might just take up his setup

Does a 4870 waterblock fit on a 4850?? they are like compatible right?? cuz the HSF mounts or w/e are the same i think

I figure for $100 more its more versatile and such than the best air cooler (for now) and the water-cooling will stay top notch for a long time while giving you future proof because you can just swap out the CPU block for a newer one if you ever upgrade or something....and its better cooling for the GPU and you don't have to worry about dust =) but you will have to worry about maintenance =(........i hear you can just like clean it out every 2 years with some coolants

2 years is a bit too long.

Since most coolant is cheap, I would say at least 6-9 months, and check over your hoses every month or so. Water cooling can be a hassle, but it's worth it.

yes true........do u know if primochill pc pure is like the coolant and is all ready togo once u buy it, pour it into system and doesnt need to be mixed with distilled water??

Your card is fine for now I think.

And you should just go for the D14 instead, just install and clean every few months and not worry about leaks, low levels of water, buying coolant, etc.

yea i know, most likely wont go the water-cooling route if the Noctua seems to be able to handle the temps well.......hah i like to have the best, thats y i wanna upgrade my card xD if i had a 4870x2 i probably wouldn't upgrade but 1 1/2 years ago the 4850 just came out so i went with it and i like to run games maxed, the 4850 does well but not good enough for my taste hehe

Well, the cheaper route to go is to beef up your CPU clocks and you'll see just as good results in the FPS department.

I think around summer/fall of this year would be the time to upgrade the GPU.

depends - cpu power hardly helps on most games except the newest of the new without dx11. even the 5870s are getting maxed out and not bottlenecked by the higher end quad cores (955/965/i5/i7s) with dx11 active. with still dx9/10 there are only a couple of games that will really utilize cpu cores/power to give any boost in fps, which is like dragon age and dirt2...but then again it will only be a couple frames, nothing to brag about

Anything below the newest of the new would be maxed out with a 4850 anyways. And BC2 is multicore supported, so basically anything being released this year, he shouldn't have any problems. Even Crysis 2 is being drastically optimized (console >.>)

Alrite.......Im debating if i should upgrade my CPU cooling

Im current running a Q6600 @ 3.6ghz with load temps around 60C

I was debating if i should buy a Corsair H50 with a push/pull fan configuration or a Noctua NH-D14
I am mainly thinking about upgrading is because i want to get my CPU to 4.0ghz or around that with safe temps......currently not possible with my OCZ Vendetta 2, the temps become too high

I know the Noctua NH-D14 will give the best performance but will it be worth the extra money over the Corsair H50??
The Noctua will cost around $93 and the Corsair around $78 after shipping

I basically want to achieve around 4.0ghz on my Q6600 with reasonable temps as my current CPU cooler doesn't allow that to happen

Holy snappakins thats a big CPU cooler i though the V8's were big....

V8 is tiny lol

as for video card.......no matter wat im pretty much gonna upgrade this summer when the price drops as usual, i don't need it right now of course but i will upgrade when the price becomes a bit nicer

I might buy a new snowboard in the meantime xD
