I didn't say Fermi wasn't going to be powerful, but it's at the expense of heat and power usage (it's less efficient per watt).

That's just a prediction as power consumption hasn't even been announced except for that fact that it will have 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin(so 300W max power draw, but probably significantly less).

You're most likely right about performance/watt, but we certainly don't know at this point by how much.

Idk about you but i think the ability of one single GPU to be able to compete against a dual GPU like the 5970 is a pretty nice feat

I also don't really mind the heat/watt.....its probably not going to be competing against the 5870, the low end of the GT300 is probably gonna do that and the dual-GPU of the GT300 is probably just gonna want to be the fastest card on the market. That card will probably be ridiculous amounts of money.

Either way..........i just wanna see them come out already so we can see some reviews, benchmarks, etc..

definitely nvidia usually overprices their cards big time...and yes this thing does look powerful as hell but as stated already its basically geared towards more future orientated tech however by the time those tech features hit games widespread both ati and nvidia will have new cards out. however that will mean that these ones will go down in price.

to put it clear, its very simple and this is basically how its always been.
ATI/AMD is geared towards performance per dollar value. its more geared towards the budget users that want the most bang for their buck.
nvidia/intel is geared towards the best performance at any cost. its the best of the best and you'll definitely be paying for it. geared towards the enthusiasts.

This isn't even current generation now, we should all wait for what ATI will come up with first, lol.:facewall:

Well Nvidia has always been late.

The DX10 cards for ATI came out alot earlier but by the time DX10 was finally supported, Nvidia had amazingly fast cards with the 8 series and pretty much made the ATI 2900XT and 3870 obsolete to some. Then of course ATI turns around and throws out the 3870x2, so months later Nvidia releases it's competitor the 9800GX2. Almost the exact same story with the 48xx series and GT200 (except ATI is much more competitive this time around). There's a pattern.

shadows5631, I think you may have something backwards. The 8800 GTX was the first DX10 card on the market. In terms of DX9, ATI released the 9700 before Nvidia released the gawd awful FX series.

9 times out of 10, ATI releases tech, and then Nvidia counters it. However, there have been times where Nvidia has been the sole pioneer and ATI has had to play catchup.
