Well my friend saw that I had Windows 95 on my computer and he wanted to go out and get himself his own copy. When he was buying it, he obvisouly didn't see that it was a Windows 95 Upgrade.

I need to know if you can do a Clean install with a Windows 95 Upgrade Disk. Does anyone have the answer to this?

P.S. I'm not sure if it's the Upgrade disk, but he also can't seem to boot from it.

As for doing a Clean Install (after format) from a Windows 95 Upgrade CD, you can't do it (I only know of doing a Clean Install from an Upgrade DVD with Windows 7).

As for the Boot issue, have him go into his Bios (either DEL key or F2) and make sure that CD/DVD Rom is first Boot Device. (Also i'm not sure if you can Boot from a Windows 95 Upgrade CD)

I don't believe upgrade disks of the time are bootable, I know XP upgrade disk that I had wasn't bootable.

I'm glad the upgrade disks of today have the option to format first, a clean install is always the best choice.

upgrade disks can't be used, but if you want you can use the 30 Day trial, which is used for XP and later. which when it asks for your Serial Number, uncheck all and dont put the serial # in, yet, and then press ok it should install without any problem and well after that you probably only get 30 Day Trial unfortunatly :( srry other then that there is no way that i have seen.

why are you going back to 95
your just going to have endless drivers issues with your new hardware

So why are you still on Windows 95 and why does your friend want to go back to it? I doubt you can even run a Source game on Windows 95.

correct steam and source games wont even run on 95, 98, or ME it olny works on 2000, XP, Vista, Seven.

and all of the older windows operating systems are very easily exploited and hacked into now cause they havent had any updates for over 10 years.
