I believe I've been muted

Last night (Jan. 23, 2010) I was playing on the Dod_donner server for a few hours and toward the end of my game I started chatting with a fellow player.

I suppose we were being a bit excessive over the voice and Skippy told us to keep it down, so I told the fellow I was playing with that we should move to a free ventrillo room. He wanted to add me to his friends list first, but didn't know how to add or accept invitations from friends, so I started telling him how, but before we got too far into it I decided to use the steam text chat, rather than annoy Skippy or anyone else on the server.

Today I log on to Dod_Kalt and find that no one can hear me.

I checked my mic and everything is fine...

So I believe Skippy muted me, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone explain this or tell me how i can get unmuted?

Hi American,
Usually when you either get muted/silenced, it's usually removed after 3-5 minutes. If you leave the server, then it's immediately gone. I am not sure why others can't hear you but I am unable to think of anything. I've passed this on to an advisor.

Hey AmericanNightmare -- I didn't silence you, I only silenced k0ri3, and I just checked my logs to make sure too. Especially since you also saw my initial warning and advised him to tone it down a little, which I greatly appreciated. After I switched to Allies a few minutes passed and another admin on the Axis side said things had calmed down a little so I unsilenced k0ri3.

Also, as far as I know (unless I'm wrong, which is always possible!), once you have been muted/gagged/silenced, if you leave the server and reconnect, you're automatically unmuted/ungagged/unsilenced. Which is why there is a 1-week ban for people who do that to circumvent being muted/gagged/silenced. Long story short, not quite sure why no one can hear you now though, unfortunately. When it happens to me it's either because my mute switch is on, or my microphone plug is ajar. Hope you're able to fix the problem soon, and do let us know what the fix is!

Reset your audio. If that doesn't work along with these other suggestions that have been posted, than the microphone gods have smitted you!!!

I got that problem 2.. last time i tryed all, and some days after it just worked again :S

and yesterday it just came again, (i so play CSS bot.. stil..)

And my microfone work in all other things, bot not in source games.. when that came..

there is something wrong with your audio, not being muted ingame, try reinstalling your files.

Played with AmericanNightmare a couple of hours after he posted, and he's got his mic back up and working again. Apparently he lost his sound when he alt-tabbed out, but got it back later. Can we close this thread?
