So I just got back from taking my algebra finals and a problem on my test was the wierdest question I have ever seen. So could anyone possibly figure it out? Or could anyone give me a solution to solve it? It would be much appreciated. Btw, math, not the best at.:confused1::confused1:

16 <3 8

<3= heart :glare:

what do i do!! its to confusing!

16 is less than 38.
< = less than.

The answer would be true...

Spend less time on the computer. You just failed grade 2 math!

no what i mean is the <3 is an actual heart so its 16*heart*8

hmm... well i'm a math major and i have to say that i've never seen that before. if it was an actual heart then i say you smack your teacher :P

You all fail. <3 is a binary operation used in Algebra 1. A binary operation takes two numbers and produces one... You are given a string of numbers like
x<3y = 3x+y and explain how to find 4 <3 6=18. You pretty much plug in 4 for x and 6 for y. Binary operations can be ANYTHING, they can be a heart, a spade, a water bottle? etc. Hope THAT helped.

in order for that to be true... the question should have had an equal sign in there. he said it was 16 <3 8 not 16 <3 8 = 2. If that was the case then yes, <3 = division. But he said that the problem simply said 16<3 8... not much you can do with that

I don't think this belongs in the css division threads. I don't mean to troll, but someone was going to say it sooner or later.
