Apple stock went down, after this ipad thing announced.

I can see why. It's an oversized square ipod touch. I think Apple is stuck on this design now, it was cool 3 years ago... It's getting old... IMO.

Apple is becoming less and less creative. I look at this ipad and agree with everyone else that it is just a beefed up iphone that they are trying to market as great. I think most of the time that's the only reason Apple has survived is their awesome marketing and the fact they have somehow gotten themselves as "hip". As GbrilliantQ mentioned, I'm not surprised their stock fell some.

Apple is the "thing to have" for almost all kids now..........just like blackberry's are becoming the cool thing to have by kids/teenagers also. PEER PRESSURE!!!

Apple honestly isn't terrible. Their honestly some of the best looking devices out there and have some of the best quality. Of course, performance wise, there are much better for the price. Macs have their purpose though, the Entertainment industry and such.

If the iPad had Flash support, iChat, and cheaper for the 3G version. I can almost guarantee you that it would be considered so much better than now.

Luckily, when they jailbreak it. You can get Flash video support on it just like the iPhone

The iPad is pretty stylish though and i wouldn't mind carrying it around with me.....but of course, i'd rather have an iPhone 3GS or the next generation one.

Well see, I don't mind voiding warranties on things that are in my home, ie ocing my CPU. But if it's something I'm going to carry with me everyday, chances are I will drop it.

I've been trying to figure out what market segment the iPad is directed towards...

The Mobile Work Professional? No 3G, so not really that mobile
The Artist? No Flash, and wouldn't an Artist prefer a pure tablet input coupled with a powerful PC?
The College Student? maybe...as a netbook alternative? the iPad will be an eBook reader, so maybe...but still...wouldn't a student prefer a real laptop to the iPad?
The Disposable Income People? Yes. These people will see the iPad as a must have accessory. They will carry them around in chic oversized handbags with the top of the iPad sticking out so everyone can see they have one.

What would Apple do without the disposable income segment?

I'm curious as to why many people keep saying it doesn't have 3G. It has the option to have it. Costs an additional $130 up front and then either $14.99 for 250MB/month or $29.99 for Unlimited/month on a non-contractual basis.

Don't get me wrong, I still think it's fairly worthless as a device and I doubt it will capture as many people as Apple seems to think it will. But you know, just sayin'...got give credit to it where it is due.

It has 3G.........it just cost $130 more to get it and it's released after the wi-fi models come out.

Yes no flash is a deal breaker but im gonna guess its going to get jailbroken and flash will be put on it just like the iPhone/iPod touch.

In the end, no its not worth the $500. Its more of like a handbag, carry it around for style and to show off.....flashy.

You know what, I love macs love apple things, however this will be something that I will not buy nor want to buy. It is by far the stupidest product I think apple released in Years and will become another apple tv type thing. I know they try to endorse it with that "Its a bridge between smartphones and Computers' Crap but, honest It runs on a modified version of Iphone 3.0, has One center button, and has apps that control everything, giant Iphone is what it is. Hopefully apple will realize their mistake and newer versions will have modified versions of OSX. I definably will buy this thing if they make it unlocked or jailbroken or whatever with OSX on it. Personality I think they should just take a 13" mac book pro take the keyboard out and put a touch screen there. Also the name "Ipad" is stupid as well... and I normally like apple.
