I7 rig for under 1000$

Hi, im in need of an I7 rig for under 1000$. Sites used must be NCIX.COM, tigerdirect.ca, newegg.ca. I do NOT need a video card. I have a GTX 275. I would preferably want the HAF 932 case.

I'm no expert, but since you have the graphics card already I think you should be able to come in way under $1000.

I mean, there's an Asus machine at best buy with a graphics card in there that has an i7 processor in it.

Also, EVGA one has lifetime warranty Go with the EVGA for $10 more, you can also TRI-SLI 3 dual slot GPU's or Tri-Crossfire. Most others only do 2xdual slot cards or 3xsingle slot cards.

This is the best air cooler on the market right now and i have one and can vouche for it. I have my i7 920 running at 4.2ghz never going above 70C on the hottest core and 60C on the coolest core. Im running at higher voltages than most D0 to get here so you probably wont have a problem. I didn't get one of the amazing batches like some other people have out there.

This is exactly the same rig that i upgraded to. Everything has been running amazing. i7 920 overclocked to 4.2ghz, RAM running at 8-8-8-24 1600. Temps are amazing. My case has 4x120mm red LED fans that i upgraded too, airflow has become even better. I have the red one and got it when it first came out but i prefer the blue one that just came out.

This really pushes your budget.............with shipping and tax it will probably put you right at $1000 or around it. I only paid $410 for my i7 920 upgrade but i didn't get a case. I also sold my old setup for $350 which included mobo,cpu,ram,heatsink. Its mainly the only reason why i upgrade, because i could pay so little for it.

Its not that I'm disagreeing with you. Its a great processor I have the Phenom II x4 945 myself. It just gets out performed by the i7. End of story.

Then by all means put some more money to get your wanted HAF 932.......i have it and the space/fans/cooling/etc... is well worth the money.

The motherboard.......if you want to spend extra, go with what i posted before or the Foxconn BloodRage, or the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R.

Getting things like PSU/OS etc.. kinda limits how much you can spend on the others.

The i7 920 with the mobo's i picked out before, pretty high end ones will put you well into the one thousand dollar budget especially with a HAF 932 and all the other things you need.

In terms of architecture and design, the i7 or just Intel in general in far ahead in technology than AMD. My boss was teaching me in depth about how they create these babies. And although I did not understand most of it, I did get out knowing Intel's far ahead in technology because they can create smaller channels. That's what 45nm is referring to.

I was so confused by what he was talking about. All about silicon substrates and gates. Then went on to quantum tunneling.

And although AMD and Intel are both putting out hexacore processors in Q1, compare the channel size of both processors. The i7 980x is at 32nm while AMD's is at 45nm. Intel is still ahead in technology and manufacture procedure.

I'm pretty sure i found my rig, i set up an I7 920, EVGA X58 SLI LE, some OCZ gold triple channel, Win 7 64 bit, HAF 932, Thermaltake 850w, Arctic Silver 5, Cooler Master N520, and im going to use the harddrive and the optical drive from my old pc, to a total of 1150$

you could save loads of cash if you went with an AMD 955/965 setup. depending of course exactly what you'll be using it for, i don't think nearly 300 bucks more is worth an i7 920 rig. but it is in the eye of the beholder.
but 184.99 vs 309.99 for a processor that is nearly as powerful...no brainer for me

I have only had bad experiences with AMD.... and my father wont allow AMD anywhere near this house lol.
