Alright here's my problem. I'm on a very low budget and I NEED to hook up my rig with some new hardware or BFBC2's gonna run real laggy. So I've been thinking of saving money and cutting away from a new mobo and ram and just get a video card and a cpu. Problem is, my mobo is pretty outdated and I believe the FSB is like 800mhz or somefin and I want to get at least a core 2 quad like the q8300 but it says it's FSB's at 1333mhz or that's as fast as it can go or something. So my question is does it matter if the cpu surpasses my mobo's fsb? Will my mobo make the cpu run it at a slower speed to work or will the cpu be completely incompatible?

If the motherboard supports the architecture but not the FSB speed, it will downclock the processor to match the highest FSB speed the mobo suppports, IIRC.

Ah. Okay thank's a lot. Btw, torzak my mobo's socket 775. I got that covered.

What processor do you currently have? Yeah as freaking said, what chipset?

type dxdiag in the windows search thing, then it will tell you every thing about your system
