Well, there's the whole CREATED BY DARTH watermarks across both of them. Sorta detracts from the overall design.

Seriously though, if you want my honest, graphic designer opinion about what you did wrong...

Top one:

• Support our Troops? Shouldn't it be Support our Soldiers?
• Soldier looks weird.
• Background distracts from the foreground
• The demo is breakdancing?

Bottom one:

• Support our Troops again
• Background/foreground are too undifferentiated again.
• Title hard to read
• Soldier's hand looks really weird
