Fallout: New Vegas Trailer and Release Date

By Obsidian? I'd bet it'll be closer to KOTOR. Unless they borrow the Fallout 3 engine from Bethesda.

War... War never changes, meatbags.

They are using the same engine, and they said to expect a similar rpg experience to that in FO3, and hey more fallout 3 can't be bad right?

Perhaps. I hope they hire better voice actors. Also, it needs a robot that says "meatbags".

Well Obsidian was founded and is populated by a bunch of old Black Isle guys. Who were the ones that created the original two Fallout games. While they confirmed that "It will be the same sort of role-playing game experience seen in Fallout 3", I'm hoping that they will stay away from the Bethesda type of gameplay.

Awesome, hope it is an open world fps like fallout 3, rather than a top down like 1 and 2, I put way too much time into 3.

I disagree. If it was top down and strategic like 1 and 2, I would never ever badmouth the gaming industry ever again. I want an old school Fallout game. Fallout 3 is good, but I still say it isn't truly Fallout. Wasteland, Fallout 1 & 2 = Perfect old school RPG greatness, back when CRPGs were good and JRPGs and RPGs in general didn't suck.

Fallout 3 is a good game at its core, exploring is fun even if the main questline is god awful, but the side quests are good; but its poorly written (In both dialogue/script and coding >_>), depressing, has no strategy just "Camera on a stick Bullet time," practically no humour or good characters with maybe.. 3 exceptions, it kills off the series' best character which further made the game depressing, and the "Choice" system as well as the perks/special/Role playing elements are watered down to the point I've found nearly every character is the same and doesn't offer nearly enough possible characters as the old games. It took awhile for me to like the game, and its good as a Bethesda shooter dipped in extra lite RPG sauce, but it shouldn't be "Fallout" because it isn't and I don't consider it canon.

Obsidian has some of the original Fallout team, so I'm hoping, even if it is like Fallout 3 in gameplay, it'll be better.

Pretty much this. I still go back to FO2 on occasion.

Well yeah, I knew I would take flak for hoping it will be more like 3 than 1 or 2, but I played 3 first under recommendations from friends and then bought 1 and 2 after that and beat them... But I just found Fallout 3 more entertaining.

I loved Oblivion and Morrowind, so I hope it's like 3. 1 and 2 were great, but I'll always have a special place in my heart for daedr...I mean Deathclaws.

But but Liam Neeson!

He did ok... but it seems like they spent their entire acting budget on him, Malcolm Mcdowell and Ron Perlman. Meanwhile, the rest of the random morons you meet in the wasteland (you know pretty much every voice you hear) are voiced by the same 4 or 5 people. Very bland, monotonous, horrible voice acting which outnumber and overshadow the few good actors.

Notable exceptions: Three Dog and Harold.

I hate bad voice acting so very, very much.

Yeah pretty much I agree.

Three Dog's voice melts my ears however. (in a good way)

I prefer Sci Fi related games to be more active. For FO the fps element is more enticing for me. However, if this was a fantasy game, I'd much prefer the more traditional FO type. As for bethesda or who ever is making this game, more money is probably in the FO3 style game play.

Played FO1 for awhile, it was really good...I just can't focus. I played it for a long while, then I stopped due to failing at something. Gameplay was really good. I thought FO3 was more interesting (gameplay wise!)because I had played Morrowind and Oblivion before, and thought, "Wow! This looks really good!" and therefore knew FO3 would be good. It was in RT.

OT: Looks good, sounds good, Bethesda is good(Publishers and creator of FO3 engine), Obsidian is good(Fallout). Also, I think they mean it will be played like FO3(Open world FPSRPG Hybrid), but more like the original Fallouts in other aspects.

Bethesda knows what they're doing, I doubt they would publish a crappy game. But they have a lot of work cut out for them, as they'll face some competition with Mass Effect 2 even if Vegas is released months later.

Well Bethesda published Rouge Warrior, so yeah they can and will publish absolute crap.

Also, I doubt that Mass Effect 2 will pose any competition. FO:NV will likely be released either October or November.

I'm extremely excited for this game, while i know people liked 1 and 2, I prefer 3 like Carmine. Mostly because I generally dislike bird-eye view games and turn-based fighting. Hopefully in FO:NV they keep the excitement of not knowing whats coming up that you'll have to overcome and have that dark humor that made 1 and 2 great.
