My L4D game runs faster than it normally should,
like when you run an emulator, and the speed is at like 130% or something,
or like when my brother installed PoP on his computer, it ran at like double speed or something. Does anyone know what this is, or how to fix it?
Any information will be supplied on demand.

Could it be that your getting abnormally good FPS making it seem like your running faster, or that you really are running faster than everybody else?

No, I'm getting about 60-150 frames, but I am actually running faster than everyone else.
Like I got accused of using speedhacks.

EDIT:I get such good frames because I use low settings with low res

I'm not going to lie..

This has confused me, for once.

You're literally running faster than everyone?
I mean, your FPS couldn't alter your speed to the distance that you're speedhacking..

In order to achieve speeds like that..I'd say you're REALLY REALLY REALLY close to where the servers are located or your internet is omega?

I'm baffled..

The issue has been resolved, he had OC on. Haha.

Okay, another issue.
Or at least I think it is.
What are lerps?
Mine are/is at 100ms, and when I have net_graph set to 1, it's highlighted yellow.
Why is that?

Lerp stands for linear interpolation. It has to do with computer mathematics.

Maybe it's a caution notice?
I'm not sure.

mine are always at 16.7777 Repeating.

and it doesnt make it run faster, he must be OverClocking his PC, only reason i can think he might be going faster then other people, unless he has 100 health everyone else is hurt, other then that i BAFFLED! lol

He had it in overclock.
It's fixed now, I'm pretty sure.

I am still confused. How does having an overclock make you run faster?

If I played L4D on a old P4 (Assuming it would run on a P4) I would run the same speed as someone on an i7. Processor speed has nothing to do with movement speed.

Well, you see. When you Overclock, on other people's screen you seem to "jump".

Because his computer was processing commands faster than everyone else.
The shoot, the walk, the jump, etc.

So the way he was "faster" is because he was all jumpy, not literally faster.

In turn, it's pretty much what a speedhack does.
His console was receiving and sending commands faster than the sever console, so he was literally jumping all over the place.

I am sorry, but that is not correct. No matter how fast your CPU is processing commands, you will only send and receive so many messages from the server every second. The is what the interpolation settings are for. Since there is lag between computers the interpolation settings guess where you are going to be so that you do not "jump" on other peoples screen. If your computer is faster, you will notice a difference on your screen of how smooth the game is, but no one else will.

By your logic, you're saying that people with better computers run faster in online games than people with old computers. This statement is not true.

As for the OPs issue. I believe that your LERP settings may be off. This means that your computer if interpreting the positions of the other players behind the actual location of their hit box. You could try lowering this in console and seeing if that fixes your issue.

Well, when I advised him to turn OC off, his game acted normal.

So that was his problem, his OC was on at gameplay, which caused him to be all jumpy.
When he turned OC off, he played fine.

He had OC on everything, I even had a little gameplay with him to confirm his OC altercation.

He shot faster, he ran faster and became jumpy when OC was on.
When OC was off, all commands were normal. His jumping discontinued.

That's not what I meant, and I might have worded it wrong.

Question: How come I don't run faster in CS:S when I overclock my rig?

Answer: Because overclocking your computer doesn't change the speed you run in video games.

All I know is problem was due to OC being on and it's been solved by disabling OC.
You continue to believe what you do, good luck! :)

Overclocking can cause other errors than just computer instability.

As metro has stated, overclocking will in no way speed up your run speed or firing rate in any game at all. He is correct.

Explanation for the OP's symptoms:
The OC was causing other video errors etc. that made it appear to him that he was firing faster/running faster.

On MY screen, as another player, he was literally running faster, shooting faster than everyone.

Infact, the whole reason this thread exists is because he got banned from servers for speedhacking and couldn't figure out why.

No, it was on random dedicated servers that he was banned from. I was gaming with him at the time in L4D.

All I know is when OC was on, he was claimed to be speedhacking AKA being jumpy everywhere and firing/reloading faster than everyone else.
When OC was off, everything was normal.

That is the only solution I can think of.
