I have a Mac Pro and I just wanted to know if it was necessary. Thanks again! Add me to friends so I can get to know you guys better

Peace.

nah dude macs are pretty good on viruses and all of that so ur all set !!!

Macs dont get viruses (:

Well, they dont because most viruses are for windows. So its all cool :d

There are less viruses written for the MAC since it has a much smaller customer base. Though I don't even use anti virus for PC and I've never received a virus.

You should be fine.

Well...I have used a mac for years and do in fact have anti-virus on my mac (Sophos). As a result I have found that my computer has been infected twice with rather innocuous viruses that dont compromise its information security but do in fact eat up resources (as part of a bot net). So...the moral is that anti-virus can help and is a good idea even though macs have a reduced risk of infection.

no need for virus scan but i would say the same for windows too since i dont have virus scan and have never got a virse on any os i use since 1998

Alright thanks guys. I've coded a few Mac Scripts that act like a virus so I know what to Download and Not to download. Basically I'm gonna stick without the virus protection. Thanks guys!

Does this include malware scanners? o_O

no nothing and never had anything infected i can account for absolutely everything that is running in the background.

i don't have scanners of any sort but i do maintain disk images in-case something goes bad but it never has.

it's a bit of knowing what your doing and that i use 3 different OS's and windows is olny really used for games and very light browsing then i use SuSE linux for almost everything and it's all mac's at work.

Yes and no, really its not necessary but its a good thing to have just in case.

ya but most of them are scams for mac it is kinda impossible to test a virse scan for an OS that has next to none

Well I virus scan can't stop you from a scam. YOU have to click it and YOU have to run the program. If you don't run it no virus!
