I can not seem to figure this out for the life of me.

Upon launch of TF2, if I skip the intro thing with the dude and the little hosset on his head or whatever it's called in English, my game freezes.

If I do a mapchange, it freezes 98% of the time.

If I join a game and someone is talking, it freezes.

I tried everything I could and normally I help out others..So I'm at wits end..

Here are my specs:
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5800 @ 1079 MBs.
Memory: 8 gigs @ DDR3
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X3 710 Processor (3 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
ProcessorU: Unknown (? CPUs), ~6.3GHz
Operating Systems: Windows 7 Home Edition/Windows XP PRO/Linux, multiple distros.

Note: Also like Opeth's problem, this only occurs with games on STEAM. It doesn't happen to anything else, so it's fairly annoying.

Can anyone offer assistance?
I can't figure it out.

Thanks,
Ric.

You can try to defrag the game, and verify the game cache. Does the screen turn black when it freezes? If it does, it could be a driver issue.

I've done all that. :/

No, it freezes on the MOTD.

So it freezes on the Novint Falcon ad.

To stop the video coming at the beginning. Right click on tf2, click properties, then set launch options. In there type "-novid" try that and see if it works.

if it is that bad just do a full reinstall of the game. delete it in steam than go into your steamapps/user/ folder and delete the team fortress folder and reinstall.

i'd say this is your only hope as well. don't just delete local content but delete everything and redo everything, it should then come to its default game which should not have those problems. try running the game as default before altering anything you may have before, and see if it runs fine

DEP comes up and denies TF2 when I use that setting.

This doesn't occur when I boot the game in WindowsXP.

I'm gonna guess there is argument between Windowd7 and Valve?

So thanks for everyone's response, I'm just gonna try a reinstall.

turn of UAC and see what happens

cuase i know it works fine in win7

Could be a sound issue.. honestly. Ive had games crap out like that because I had my sound quality (in my sound driver options) Too high.. I found a happy medium with 44100Hz and CD Quality.

Tried to reinstall, didn't help.

However, the -novid thing worked after reinstall.
So thanks, Darth.

When it freezes, I can still hear all the players run about and what not, I just have to CTRL,ALT,DEL to get out.

Update:

I have fixed it, so thank you everyone who helped.

But, one more..

As Leadership knows, I have a problem with redirection within eGO.

This has happened in multiple browsers including Internet Explorer, Safari, FireFox, Chrome, and NetScape.
The redirection also occurs on my wife's laptop when she views this website.
It does not occur on any other website but "http://edgegamers.org" and "http://edgegamers.org/*"

All programs I have tried report "No infected entries.", which include:
Norton, Ad-Aware, Malware-Bytes, ComboFix, and Avast!, and HijackThis which didn't show anything out of the ordinary..

I have looked in my registry under multiple OS's:
Windows XP Pro.
Windows 7 Home.
Linux: STDUbuntu, Fedora Core, and RedHat 10+.

I have scanned all of my hard drives.
I have checked registry on all operating system's.

But still I get redirection.
2 days ago I was redirected to a pistol site, some bikini thing, and some Meningitis(sp?) thing.

Today I was redirected to "antivirus 2010 windows edition" site where it'll perform that fake scan and say you have over 9000 trojan horses.

Anyone got any ideas?

try it on the linux distros if you get no redirects with them you can pretty much assume it was something in windows the scanners didnt pickup so just reinstall windows.

What I meant by that was I looked at my hard drive while logged into Linux and I checked both registries in WinXP Pro and Win7.

EDIT: Linux redirects as well.

So at this point it's safe to assume my DNS is corrupted somewhere..

check your hosts files and reset your router then..

..As I've explained before, I have cleared my host files and my router has CRON in it, it restarts automatically every 24 hours. :/
