Hi, recently I bought BFBC2 for my computer, I experienced quickly a massive lag.
For a week I have been trying all sorts of things to get this lag fixed, like disc defrag, ccleaner and changing windows for best usage rather than looking good. I haven't got it fixed yet. Today I tested how much CPU BFBC2 used. I played for about 5 minutes then the lag showed up as always. At that time it used over 90 %. Then the lag stopped for half a minute, then it returned.
Im using a Acer Aspire 7720G laptop, with 3 GB RAM DDR2, Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT (512 MB) Intel core 2 Duo processor T7500 (2,2 GHz), and 320 GB Harddisc.
I know it isn't a great computer, but I haven't experienced any problems with a game before, I have played MW2 and other games with no problems.

Sry for my poor English, I hope someone can help me... Thanks in advance :)

BFBC2 is CPU reliant to the point where 2 cores just isn't enough. On top of that, your CPU is a laptop C2D and it has a low clock speed. If you want to run the game really well, you'll need a quad core processor or at least a very high speed dual core.

Drop the resolution and texture settings and see if it helps. I can't run any games at full settings, really.

This is a very demanding game. It's also not very optimized. Not even some of the best hardware can get a stable framerate.

But yeah, your proccesor frequency is killing you. Reason MW2 runs well is it's running on a modified quake 3 engine.. (also why it dosen't look great; lot of limitations)

i would suggest if you can overclock your PC Safely, raise is up slowely until it cant go anymore stable, and see if that helps?

You can't compare mw2 to bfbc2 the games are graphicly too much different. Mw2 has a clean stable engine with smooth graphics which does not have high requirements and overall a clean and neat made game, all runs smooth. Now BFBC2 on the other hand is more sluggish controls aren't that tight aiming is a bit off and the frames are unstable as hell. The optimization as chemist said is horrible and you can't customize the gfx that much so it does require a fast CPU to run it.I'd suggest getting win7 and buying a new PC cause with the PC you have right now will create lagg even on 640x480 and low res and does not put out more frames, trust me and it looks terrible. So in conclusion my suggestion would be :
A) you can't get a new PC / Get windows 7 , update hardware gfx, procc and mothrboard chips as well as BIOS. With that install a fresh copy and just have the game on it also you can download something like gamebooster which closes all your unnecessery app. running in the background as well as themes and smooth vista and win7 looks.
B) Get a new graphics card or a new CPU ( idk how it works for labtops)

Hopefully this helped you but overall for the max experience you need to get a new PC.

Thanks and peace out.

I have an i5 2.27 ghz think that will be sufficient id consider that a "fast daul core"

Yea, one of the reasons for the high CPU usage is the destruction engine and all of the physics calculations going on...

But really, its just not very well optimized, because setting the game to low is just about as laggy as it is on high >_> It doesn't change anything at all...

Its because of all the physics are still being calculated, if they had a graphics panel like, say, company of heroes it wouldn't be that bad.

I don't think so...

apparently it is i downloaded the game and it defaulted to medium quality i left it here the game looks beautiful and i have yet to lag ever in multilayer or single player

The i5's are a pretty powerful dual core and i forgot to mention its normal clock is 2.27 its variable it changes speed depending on need it goes up to like 2.8 or when it needs more power and clocks down to save power when not needed

Also they have the whole "virtual core" thing dunno what that is exactly i just know they read as 4 cores and i7's read as having 8 cores =/

Naku_vamp - the i5 is part of the Nahelem processor family and is a LOT faster than previous generation processors.

That being said, this game is a CPU hog; it seems to take everything plus some.
