Event Idea: DoD Boot Camp?

I think this is the right forum for it, and I looked through the Steam group's event calendar but dunno if this has been tried before, but...

I've just recently gotten back into Steam gaming after a year or two/three of not playing (thanks, college!) After a poor showing on my part today on Donner :facewall:, I started to wonder:

"Wouldn't it be useful to have like a Boot Camp event series where some of the more experienced eGO veteran players could share tips and stuff about shooting, gameplay strategies, effective communication, etc.?"

I noticed something similar being done by the fine folks in the Insurgency division, so maybe I'm just being a copy-cat More to the point, though: I think something like this could be beneficial for new and veteran players alike. Not only would it help with building DoD playing skills, but the experience itself would hopefully carry over to and improve other areas of our members' gaming careers (other games, interactions with other members, etc.)

I'm still a F.N.G. here in eGO so I don't have the authority to organize this, but I would be happy to help put together a curriculum of sorts with the division leaders if this idea floats anyone's boat.

But first things first: good idea? bad idea? done before? who's interested!?

Or you could go by The One Man Tank Ronpaul. No need for all those fancy words =P

For those of you who joined us in that event it was one hour before our regular realism and we went over tactics, weapons classes, and coordination. It was very informative and i would definitively like to expand on it to encompass an overview of DoD for new players as well as veterans.

I attended that boot camp and enjoyed it all thanks to Stormy and the others. Great experience. I do hope this can come to fruition as there are many knowledgeable and experienced players that I / we can learn from :drool:

The real question I have is this: What are we supposed to teach in this class?

DoD:S has been out for five years now. The majority of the players simply don't care about "advanced teamwork" for the most part, and the gameplay is more arcade-style than others. You can't be taught how to aim, control recoil, etc.; you just have to learn to do it on your own.

I guess the point is this: We don't really see the need for this kind of class. This is actually the third time I remember this coming up, and the answer was the same back then, too.
