What science fact/theory do you think is most unbelievable?

But, I looked at your profile and it says you're 17.
Are you telling me you went through junior science, and were NEVER taught how lightning occurs?
you just restating it doesn't make me believe it or make it true

I just use the Dec. 31, 1999 to Jan, 1, 2000 reference on how the world was supposed to end, then they shut up.
Very good read but I can't contribute much, I rather study Phycology and philosophy.
Actually, I think the new millenium was supposed to be machines mess up and stuff. If the world were ending, why would everybody stock up on toilet paper?
And at the same time, this 2012 is akin to Mayan's "millenium", isn't it? Except this time, supposedly, Earth's destruction.

It depends on who to talk to, alot of people say all the computer were going to blow up because they couldn't go past 1999 on the calendar. Then some people the world was going to end period.
I don't think the world is ending anytime soon...
ya it was supposed to shut down all things controlled by computers, and so all the missile defenses were supposed to go off and we were all doing to die etc, it was hilarious crap to begin with, but how many new computers did they sell that were "Y2K ready"? and how many batteries and generators and BOMB SHELTERS, lol....man the public will fall for anything

Yep the earth will be fine for quite sometime...well as long as the sun is burning hydrogen.
Its not hard, just download google earth, unless you already have it, go to the skymaps on it, type in the date of December 21st 2012 and you can see for your self. Atleast I think it was 21st.... might not be. As for the earth quakes? and the reforming of earth? well.... think of it this way, every planet has a north pole and south pole, and you see, not all of them are at the same place. So... when the gravity of the sun pulls on all of the planets after earth it would basically be like trying to make the poles even when none of them are at the same place anyway. The reformation of earth would happen because the poles had changed places, the hole tectonic plate system on earth would move basically, which meens new mountains as plates move together, valleys as they go apart, oceans because some continents may run into others.
Now Nibiru or "Planet X" as so far claimed... Its self freaking explanitory, Nibiru is a GREEK name. You already know about Mayan calenders.
Now all I have to say about the calenders is... really... Do you expect a person to make a calender FOREVER? You need a stopping point somewhere and 2012 happened to be it. 2012 marks a reset to many Mayans, simply a way of starting over, not the end.
While I would love to discuss the ins and outs of evolution unfortunately it has no place on eGO. I also find that in the end that discussions end up convincing no one, people believe what they want to believe. I'll let blackhawksniper explain the rest.
